I guess I gotta watch to see what a H@ buffer is. OK here goes.
It means your gas rings are worn and it's time to replace them. It will continue to function normally for a period but eventually they will stop sealing and the gas blow by will erode them quickly. Once there isn't a significant seal the action will not run well.I guess I gotta watch to see what a H@ buffer is. OK here goes.
OK, that was a waste of time, I stopped at "if you pace your bolt on end and the carrier pushes it down...." I say that means you have a well used and lubed bolt that will run smoothly.
The barrel you recommended had a nickel boron lined chamber y'know. Most are bs.
I would say over half are stupid. H2 buffer being the tip of the stupid list. A properly build ar does not need an h2 buffer.
Chrome lined? Why sacrifice accuracy for that when we have nitride?
Nickel boron? Only time i ever have issues is with nickel boron stuff. Even from big named companies. Yes. Many people have no issues and they run fine. But the ONLY time my rifles has issues it was from ni bo. I built 100s and 100s of rifles.
And them he goes on to name brans of fh? Come on. Bs.
Etc etc.
The barrel you recommended had a nickel boron lined chamber y'know.
.
The barrel you recommended had a nickel boron lined chamber y'know.
And we don't know yet if nitride is a durable or heat resistant as chrome. It may be of course but there isn't as much data yet.
Between the BA (nitrided) barrel and the DD (chromed) barrel I notice little difference in accuracy.
That rifle you had was high spec though.AR's are simple. The design was created to function under heavy stress in crappy environments with little cleaning. There's literally ZERO need to waste money on fancy parts. The one I carried overseas was as basic as it gets and served its purpose. I'm definitely not wasting money for rifles that will realistically see less than 500 rounds every year down the pipe.
Please site a reference.
I said nickel boron bcg are shit. Not chambers.
Maybe i was not clear ni bo bcg are problematic.
Yeah. A $300+ bb chrome lined better be good. But lets talk about yhe NORMAL $140 chrome lined shit most guys use. Come on already, most all cl barrels are NOT dd.
But even those can be had cheap. None of my free floats cost more than $75-100.
you're better off with a tunable gas block than anything this guy mentioned in regards to buffers and springs. chrome lined is pointless unless you have an auto sear or MG. you wouldn't have to worry about corrosion because if you're not shooting it you probably have half a minute to run an oiled rag down the barrel.
NIB coatings are hit or miss. it can last forever or it can flake off if you look at it wrong. its similar to cerakote in that it's all in the prep work how good it works.
OH and you're a scrub if you run anything that isn't geisselle and if you ask me why you're an idiot.
I agree AB. Milspec AR patterns just work. With a proper zero, you just aim and shoot and it'll work. The is no need for titanium this and the latest Adamantium barrel. Plain chrome lined works. It works every year at distances from 0 to 500 yards on static targets and 0 to 300 yards on pop-up targets for qualification. The latest 2 stage trigger might feel better for competition but for combat, qualification, and the average Joe who doesn't even shoot it past 200 yards, it'll work the exact same.

You can get DD barrels for less than $300.
Even if not their barrel is worth the money.
I got the BA barrel on your recommendation not because it was cheaper but because I liked the profile and because you spoke very highly of it.
It's working well for me so far.
If there is an part of an AR to spend a little extra on it's the barrel. I can see setting a budget, but I cannot see throwing the cheapest shit possible together. That is the bigger waste of money.Ok. For some reason i cant get the link to open but i see the image. Ni bo barrel extension not chamber.
My point is most chrome lined barrels do not shoot as well as the DD.
Im glad the barrel is working well for you.
Trigger bcg and barrel. Everything else can be bottom of the barrel shit but as long as it's in spec you can hit anything out to 400 yards presumably with ease.If there is an part of an AR to spend a little extra on it's the barrel. I can see setting a budget, but I cannot see throwing the cheapest shit possible together. That is the bigger waste of money.
I would much rather buy a quality barrel and use inexpensive sights and Magpul MOE furniture, GI trigger ect.
