Walmart yesterday still had zero ammo except a couple boxes of 12 gauge and some weird rifle rounds I think (didn't look closely). Maybe next year the ammo will be back in stock.

They are basing their figures on NICS checks which is probably very misleading. For instance, you can purchase a gun, in quite e few states (my new home of TX being one of them) without being subjected to a NICS check if you have a TX License To Carry (LTC). I have purchased a a least a few guns over the past year without NICS checks being run on me.
