They did a background check for bullets? I went to Runnings last week and bought bullets and primers, no check. They also dont check powder.

Funny you mention this. Friend of mine who deals a lot with Amish has been getting them ammo from PA. Makes a little on the side.how are the Amish FFLs doing this ???

Big box store policy, I bet. Now, there is a book to record the damn smokeless powder, that reg has been around for years. The guy that inspects that part told me if an Amish person, with no license comes in, well just record his info. I am guessing he would not rememberr that if confronted.

I go to Rome as well. I didn't get muzzle sabots, but some jacketted rifle bullets along with primers...no check. Unless this just went into effect.

Well if their policy has changed since to now do background checks for reloading components, well no more Runnings for me. Obviously it would be a store policy, which makes no sense because the check has no options for reloading stuff.

Their bullshit system should of been declared perfectly operational that a denial results in the police showing up and arresting you. Then they confiscate all your guns. Why have the system at all? Since you ID'ed yourself to the system, they just find you later.

I been watching cop video where they can tell by the license plate a person dos not have insurance and they drag them out and handcuff them. Its great. The losers cry, complain and resist.

I dont recall this being mentioned but what about Indian Reservations? Can they sell ammo here in NY without background checks?

Indian reservations may be geographically located within the borders of NY but they do not follow the laws of NY. They only need to follow federal and tribal laws. There are states where federal law makes tribal follow state law but I do not believe NY is one of them

Indian reservations here in nys only have to follow federal law. They absolutely could open an ammo store and sell ammo on the shelf that customers can touch and buy without a background check. They could also sell standard capacity magazines that are for possession only on tribal lands. Why they don’t is beyond me as they would take in the money on ammo sales while simultaneously giving nys the finger. Maybe someone here who is a tribal member knows more.

That would be great, and the nation/s here in NY would have a good source of income. But if they can, if there are no laws to stop them from selling ammo, I expect Hochul would try to buy them off, pay them NOT to sell ammo. If the nations agreed to that, that would be a win win for Hochul. She'd be using our own tax (ammo) money to prevent us from buying ammo w/o the BG check.

I'm not a Native American or in my terms an Indian. So take this for what it is worth. I have lived next to the reservation for 34 years and am familiar with the people that live there. I have some friends who live on the reservation. The best answer that I can give is that the people on the reservation have a good thing going with the smoke shops, fuel stations, and now the weed dispensaries.
IMO they do not want to bring the heat from the New York State Government down onto them by pushing their luck so to speak by selling ammo and such. The tribal leaders do not want to give New York State a reason valid or not to bring tyranny down upon them. They're making money hand over fist as it is.
An example of bringing unwanted attention to themselves is when some of the smoke shops were selling bath salts. That gave Cuomo an opening (in his mind anyway) to go after them, and he did. And he tried to take away the one good thing that they had going for them at the time. Which was their very profitable smoke shops. It's a little bit more complex than that but that's the gist of it.
Up until the late 1980s before the smoke shops really took off, the people on the Tonawanda Reservation lived in absolute poverty. Many homes/old mobile homes/shacks on the reservation had no electricity or running water and so on.
Nowadays the reservation is thriving with nice homes and good roads. I don't think that they want to open up the Pandora's box of selling ammo and then giving Hochul a reason to start shit with them. They don't need to, they are doing very good for themselves as it is.
On a side note. The reservation has become a big source of employment in this rural to semi-rural area, for Indians and non-Indians alike. I just thought I'd mention it.

I reported this very thing right from September 15 that LEO were being delayed/denied more so than Joe Schmoe.
While I haven't found proof, it would seem that those making the "Checks" ARE THIRD PARTY PROVIDERS, and NOT Uniformed NYSP, or Clerical Staff.
If you ain't got it, or can't make it right now, you're fucked.
