This “cycle” might be different from the past ones, a virus-unrest-preelection trifecta...but those that have been through something like this before: How long did ammo stocks go back to “normal”?
Don't be wasting it all at the range.
I’m surprised about the 6.5s, you’d think that it’s the hot thing in long range...but then long range guys tend to reload and they’re not “home defense” rounds. Those with well rounded and well stocked inventories have their I-told-you-so hats on at a nice angle right about now
I haven't shot at all since April. I'm only going to go shoot my new pistol so I can start to carry it. 200 rounds of FMJ and 50 rounds of HP then I'm done. Also this is a reason why I have pistols in 9, 40 and 45. I am not locked into the availability of only 1 caliber.Thing is, thats’s all I do with rifles. I always thought i have the shotgun “in case” and my rifles are just range toys.. I’m starting to see the light...so late in the game
Those Wolf 100gr bi-metal are quite adequate. And cheap. I think the last case I bought was delivered for $0.23 per.In America, I'd have no qualms using a supressed 12.5 inch, 6.5 Grendel for HD.
350 Legend as well6.5 grendel barrels and uppers were in stock when 223/308 were out, too. This was a few weeks ago when I was researching AR parts.
They have LOTS of my money. Thats how.I don't know how a company like TargetSportsUSA stays in business, they're out of stock on most everything.
I've bought there before. Tough to give them your money when they have nothing to offer in return. They have LOTS of my money. Thats how.
Do you have any idea how many people are panic buying right now? Or guns? Every time in to into the local Walmart (about twice weekly for groceries) I see a line wrapped around the aisle at the gun counter with people waiting to buy guns and ammo. Any guns and ammo. people go in to get a shotgun and when there are none they are buying fucking hunting guns! Lever action, even bolt actions! And they hoover up any ammo they can get their hands on.I always find it amazing that American ammo companies can't keep up with demand. Dollars are just flying out the window.
It’s not just ammunition, all the online retailers are pretty much out of everything, just go online on Brownells or MidwayUSA and anything to do with AR’s will more than likely be out of stock or on back order. When inventory does come in it’s in stock for hours or a few days at most, even junk parts are pretty much gone.I don't know how a company like TargetSportsUSA stays in business, they're out of stock on most everything.
I understand what you're saying. Plus, they're in a cycle. Much of their product line, and certain cartridges, is produced seasonally. Usually they're busting ass all summer, so there's ammo on the shelf after Labor Day, for hunting season. Plus the stress on the raw materials market.Do you have any idea how many people are panic buying right now? Or guns? No company can keep pace with these panics. You think an ammunition plant can just whip together another production line in a matter of days? Tooling up a new line takes many months. And the companies aren't going to do that anyway since once the panic dies down that extra equipment will sit idle, a crippling loss of capital. They best they can do is add shifts and optimize production on existing equipment.
As for the OP, possibly after the elections, with a Trump victory we will probably see the start ofnthe move backnto normal but it will be about a year before things get backnto where they were and that is assuming nothing else happens innthe interim. I don't thinknhe has a snowball's chance in hell but if sleepy joe gets elected, well fuhgetaboutit. We'll have a quadruple whamy panic catastrophe on oir hands at that point, don't expect to see much of anything and what is available will be at an outrageously inflated price. For example, before the extended obama panic era cheap 5.56 FMJ blasting ammo vould be had for around $.25 a round. At the height of those panics cheap M193 could go for almost $1 a round. Even today the typical price range for 5.56 blasting ammo is nownin the mid $.30s per round range. A lot of people shot Russian steel case ammo in those days. A 7.62x39 AK would be a good gun to have in times like these, wish I had one myself. 7.62x39 steel case usually remains fairly cheap even on a panic, as long as the imports can flow freely.
I'm a prime member. I buy frequently. I have a nice stock of premium ammo because of them. Things you cannot find in stores. 50 round boxes of LE ammo. Bulk 1000 round orders of 5.56 (X)M193, bulk 9mm and 40. Got tons of LE 12ga buckshot with 8 pellets that you can't find anywhere else in a store. My ammo is at my door 2 days after I order usually. Just the other day I ordered 300 rounds of Federal HST 50 round boxes. Good luck finding that in a store. I was just in my FFL and saw people coming in steadily looking for ammo and they don't have any. When I got my 45ACP Glock I looked at Cabela's and their price was about $16 more per box than TS if I remember correctly, maybe more. Yes their inventory is low right now, but you can sign up for email notifications when your product comes in. Everyone is low or completely out. It's not their fault.I've bought there before. That's why I like to buy online, so I can get EXACTLY what I want, versus settling for what some local dealer has in stock.I'm a prime member. I buy frequently. In this environment ? I could see the shortage lasting into 2022.This “cycle” might be different from the past ones, a virus-unrest-preelection trifecta...but those that have been through something like this before: How long did ammo stocks go back to “normal”?
