Ammo Sales are Booming in the U.S.

In November alone, the number of ammunition imports jumped more than 200 percent. Over 17,850 tons of ammunition have been sold to civilian buyers over the last 18 months.

“It’s very unusual in an import industry like this to see such a big move,” Panjiva research analyst Chris Rogers told CNNMoney. “It tells you that there’s a customer demand that’s not being met by U.S. manufacturers.”

The last time ammunition imports were studied, they had risen 48.9 percent from May 2015 to May 2016.

It's cheaper now than it has been in quite a few years, what do they expect? I almost jumped on a case of 7.62x39 the other day for $200 (I should have). That's the cheapest price I have seen since getting into the round, which unfortunately was after the Obama debacles.

I think people were stockpiling, assuming Hildabeast was going to be POTUS and didn't want to be caught 'flat footed' with another shortage. Now that donald is POTUS I expect ammo sales to settle down a little bit and stabilize AND be more plentiful in the future.

also, I expect that even with trump as POTUS, the SAFE ACT will never be overturned. Cuomo has shown is total disregard for federal intervention with his highway signage. This just tells me he wants to be a KING, a Dictator and overlord. He doesn't care what the fed's want, he is simply going to do anything he wants

I think prices will come down. They already are. I'm just trying to figure out if they will continue to drop or is now the low point because the retailers stocked up planning on a Hilary win.of course the guy at the gun store tried to tell me they won't drop and to buy, buy, buy. I said I've already got 5,000 rounds of .22 I don't need anymore. In reality I can go elsewhere and save $5.00 per box. I'm holding where I'm at for now. I'll buy a box here and there, but I'm not too concerned at this point and want to see where prices go. Of course they will not dramatically change, but a bit here and there adds up.

Yup, now is the time for those of us with less means to get ahead on our stockpiles. at least I have the bare minimum to build off of already. I'm going for 2k of each caliber for defensive stuff and an indefinite, steady build up of range ammo. As .22LR continues to drop I'll buy a brick whenever I see it. I don't wanna be caught out again.
