None of my Colts or SIG's have failed due to bear hair.

Even at point blank a hollow point is going to open up and parachute to a stop in the body. I don't think distance matters. It either penetrates enough to hit a vital after expanding or it doesn't.

I would have to see an assessment before damning any round at that that range.

Well that's a bit of a problem since almost all handgun hunters for bear only use hardcast from what I've read on the forums. That's the only round they recommend.

I've yet to find one who's used the hollow point when they post their experiences.

I guess you'd have to test that yourself on a bear hunt and let us know.

Yeah those too but I've never heard of holler points used.
