Was just going to post this.
Nothing supports the sensationalistic titles.
Armed off-duty firefighter halts armed suspect at Walmart store in Missouri, police say
I think he is still one of us. He doesn’t jackboot or get special gun privileges. But I see your point.off duty he should have kept his mouth shut on his work title .. your just one of us . a working person shopping
but well done .. kind of .. whoops pew lol
He doesn’t jackboot or get special gun privileges
Yeah. The average dumbass will think that a trained firefighter is supposed to carry a gun off duty.yet ..
but you got the point
This guy was detained, at gun point, after he exited the store.
This was not a "mass shooter" this was one of those "2A audit" guys. This is a problem.
Yeah. The average dumbass will think that a trained firefighter is supposed to carry a gun off duty.
Until his manifesto is discovered, he’s just a moron looking for attention.
Or wanted to protect himself while shopping.
No. That’s only Darth that thinks that. He ain’t average.Axe, actually.
The firefighter was within his rights to affect a citizen’s arrest if he believed a crime was in progress
Then the firefighter and or the dude would be fucked. No different than any one of us who did the same on the street for any reason. In the heat of the moment what if the firefighter had a twitch of the trigger finger ?
Or better yet what if the dude with the rifle felt threatened and lit up the firefighter?
The audit guy was leaving the store when he was detained. He obviously was not intent on shooting up the place if he was leaving.I would like to see how some of you would react if put in the same situation days after a mass shooting in a Walmart. The firefighter was within his rights to affect a citizen’s arrest if he believed a crime was in progress or was being attempted so that the police can sort it out.
Yes. The kid has a right to open carry. But at the same time due to the panic that he caused, the firefighter had a right to detain him as well for creating a public disturbance or if he believed that the kid was about to commit murder.
Remember the 3 idiots who decided to open carry in a police station wearing ski masks, body armor, and slung AR’s in front of them? Did the cops at that police station not have the right to detain them for questioning to see if they are a threat or not?
I know some of you will say no and that they don’t have the right to detain and question them. Would you feel the same at a church with your family and I walked in wearing Muslim garb with a front sling AK variant exercising my 2nd Amendment right and also my 1st Amendment right muttering Allahu Ackbar?
How can you measure intent on the fly? What if he got spooked about that place and wanted to shoot another place where people are more closely packed together? What if he didn’t see the type of people he wanted to shoot so he was going to another place? That’s for the police to sort out.The audit guy was leaving the store when he was detained. He obviously was not intent on shooting up the place if he was leaving.
I can logically deduce intent from the armed individual walking away from a large group of people and not having so much as unsung his weapon. How can you measure intent on the fly? What if he got spooked about that place and wanted to shoot another place where people are more closely packed together? What if he didn’t see the type of people he wanted to shoot so he was going to another place? That’s for the police to sort out.
I periodically encounter open carriers in the local Walmart. No ruckus is raised (could describe the ruckus?) I very occasionally open carry and no one pays me any mind.I was thinking about 2 scenarios today while shopping at Walmart .
1)
What if a fellow shopper discovered I was carrying due to printing or whatever ? He starts shouting at me and draws down on me , I wait for an opportunity to draw my weapon and put him down . Would I be justified ?
2) fellow shopper noticed I’m printing and makes an assumption I’m up to no good , draws on me and discharges his weapon intentionally or unintentionally , is he justified ? I’d hope not !
I’m just of the mindset as a civilian I will never draw my weapon unless absolutely necessary and need to engage a threat . As civilians we do not have a right to hold an individual at gun point just because we think that person is potentially gonna commit a crime .
Exactly how it should be .I periodically encounter open carriers in the local Walmart. No ruckus is raised (could describe the ruckus?) I very occasionally open carry and no one pays me any mind.
YesExactly how it should be .
