There was also a guy in florida that went to the gun counter at walmart and asked what gun could kill 200 people. When interviewed by police he said he was anti gun.
Probably going to see more of this from both sides. The left doing stupid shit to have guns taken away and some on the right trying to show that not everyone with a gun is bad.

There's more to this story Missouri is open carry state and I read somewhere the off duty firefighter could be charged 
and yes with the shit that been going on lately open carrying a slung rifle and pistol and ammunition and video taping your self in a wally world is beyond stupid

This guy was detained, at gun point, after he exited the store.
This was not a "mass shooter" this was one of those "2A audit" guys. This is a problem.
Waiting for off duty fire guy to be charged either unlawful detainment and menacing with a firearm. Also waiting for attention whore guy to get a lawyer sue both Walmart, off duty fire guy and the city.

I whole heartedly agree with the premise , however the timing and place was no doubt a poor choice. He was lucky he wasn’t shot simply for carrying his rifle .
This man being completely within the confines of the law the firefighter did in fact illegally detain him . Shit even if there were laws against public open carry of rifles in Missouri, I would say he still illegally detained the guy .
Honestly the firefighter should at least be charged , then up to the DA to prosecute .

We can say the timing of this guy's stunt sucked, but maybe that is the whole point. If you can't walk around openly carrying, in a place where that is legal, because of someone's "feelings" then you do not have a Right, you have a privilege.
However, I will wait to see what more comes out of this. On the surface it does sound like the guy wasn't planning an attack, merely being an insensitive clod.

I would like to see how some of you would react if put in the same situation days after a mass shooting in a Walmart. The firefighter was within his rights to affect a citizen’s arrest if he believed a crime was in progress or was being attempted so that the police can sort it out.
Yes. The kid has a right to open carry. But at the same time due to the panic that he caused, the firefighter had a right to detain him as well for creating a public disturbance or if he believed that the kid was about to commit murder.
Remember the 3 idiots who decided to open carry in a police station wearing ski masks, body armor, and slung AR’s in front of them? Did the cops at that police station not have the right to detain them for questioning to see if they are a threat or not?

The audit guy was leaving the store when he was detained. He obviously was not intent on shooting up the place if he was leaving.

How can you measure intent on the fly? What if he got spooked about that place and wanted to shoot another place where people are more closely packed together? What if he didn’t see the type of people he wanted to shoot so he was going to another place? That’s for the police to sort out.
I can logically deduce intent from the armed individual walking away from a large group of people and not having so much as unsung his weapon.
To Wit, if I come across a person with a slung or otherwise stowed long gun in public it will certainly draw my attention but I equally certain will not draw my pistol.

I was thinking about 2 scenarios today while shopping at Walmart .
1)
What if a fellow shopper discovered I was carrying due to printing or whatever ? He starts shouting at me and draws down on me , I wait for an opportunity to draw my weapon and put him down . Would I be justified ?
2) fellow shopper noticed I’m printing and makes an assumption I’m up to no good , draws on me and discharges his weapon intentionally or unintentionally , is he justified ? I’d hope not !
I’m just of the mindset as a civilian I will never draw my weapon unless absolutely necessary and need to engage an actual threat . As civilians we do not have a right to hold an individual at gun point just because we think that person is potentially gonna commit a crime .

I periodically encounter open carriers in the local Walmart. No ruckus is raised (could describe the ruckus?) I very occasionally open carry and no one pays me any mind.
