Anyone have an alien gear shapeshift holster

If the classes you are looking at wont let you use your actual every day carry gear (unless you are trying to pull some uncle Mike's shit, and ill joke about alien gear, but for new shooters they are a good way to get into something but honestly should look at others l) then I would try and find different classes even if it means travel.

I've heard of some trainers not allowing appendix (aka Larry Vickers classes) but that I'd because of different proficiency, but to not allow iwb at 3 or 4 o'clock isnt how a class should be run

I recently bought one, and returned it. IMHO it's more gimmick than anything. Do yourself a favor and buy a couple of real holsters, one for IWB one of OWB.

Those are the ONLY holsters I will run for any purpose. They have all served me well and are of awesome quality.
I carry 24/7 and rely strongly on my holsters for both work and play.

Alien Gear, Fobus, Blackhawk, Uncle Mike's, Crossbreed, all those "You can buy them in your local gun store" shit is garbage.

No mention of Desantis, I’m curious to know what category it falls in. Not that I have one, just remember hearing things about it a while ago.

I have found a lot of leather holsters will "collapse" after some time. Meaning the opening will will be difficult to holster into without using a support hand.
I have one such DeSantis I use as a demo example holster when explaining this in class. They have a shelf life I guess. Always good to keep your gear in check.

I don't own one but it looks to be to much . to many small fiddly parts and it looks like it adds bulk to the holster. If you carry iwb train iwb. If you want to carry owb get a dedicated holster.

No confusion on my part at all, and I've seen the videos. I normally carry OWB at ~4 o'clock. I honestly tried out all the configurations available to me (kit was missing a part (email to support was never returned). None of it worked to my liking.

I bought a used G26 that came with a AG holster. The shell fit like crap, I did not contact AG(the shell design is different now). When a friend bought a Shield and was tight on cash and couldnt buy a holster I gave it to him. He called to get the shell exchanged, and they updated new model at no charge. He bought a AG for his wife, they both later added a lasers and needed new shells and they were well taken care of then too. He needed a piece of hardware and was was hooked up for that also. He can not believe how great the customer service was. Where he works he turned a few guys on to the AG holsters and they are all happy with them an had good experiences.

I own several high quality holsters and no AG holsters. If I where in the market for a new holster I would not be afraid to try the AG. They have a 30 day no questions asked return policy, which I dont think is too common in the holster market.

If you don't like it - return it, and you are out zero dollars. Within one minute, the modular system changes to fit essentially any need you have. I for one think that is pretty damn cool. They ship FAST, and have almost annoying updates on the progress of the shipment. What more do you want from a company? This is a win win for anyone who wants to try it out. I was turned on to AG by a buddy of mine who has carried for many years, and swears by the brand and the quality of the product. They are constantly innovating and working hard to make an affordable product that suits the need of many of us. If you are one of those who believe that it has to be expensive to be comfortable and work - well, than try it out, and see for yourselves.

Man I saw this one comapnay that makes a car that can then be a boat in a matter of minutes. I would much rather spend the money on a something that can be both shitty at being a car and shitty at being a boat.

I have never owned a Taurus Judge, but that doesnt mean I have to go out and buy one to know its junk.

I have never owned a smart car but again and a rational adult, I dont need to buy one to know that it's a waste of money

I have never tried their stuff, but I want to say it is crap because I say so? That is completely against Capitalism to say things publicly against a company who has spent a lot of cash to try and gain a market share in this area by coming up with something that many others have not. How do you know that it is a bad product line if you personally have not tried it? There a ton of different gun channels that love it. There is no losing way to try the product out. Don't like it after you actually tried it - send it back - no questions asked. Like it, and keep it and use it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion ( USA! ), but don't judge an entire company because you have a personal bias - that's all I am asking.

I had the shapeshifter for a day. It sucked for me. The appendix carry option rode too high, was flopping over the top and printed so much that it looked like I was wearing the holster for someone else to grab it.

I sent it back.

If it’s an OWB holster for training only, safariland ALS is not expensive . There are cheaper OWB belt holsters and are good holsters but for constant draw and reholstering, this system is one of the best for the price.

Not the re-in forced quality designs. The floppy not wet molded holsters will collapse for sure.

I had a 2.0 and it had serious design flaws. I must have gone through 5 or 6 backs. AG always sent me new ones for free when they failed. Then they started making me send the old ones back. Which was a big inconvenience. I upgraded to a 3.0 which is fine but I should not of paid for the upgrade. Not only it left a bad impression with me it also probably cost AG more money to exchange my 2.0 so many times then the 8 dollars I payed to upgrade it. Now I just make my own holsters.
I almost bought a shapeshift kit when it first came out but they didn't and still dont make it for my primary carry. No love for the CZs

whats the purpose of taking the class? Is it to learn a skill set that might one day save your life out in the "streets", or is it to have fun and shoot up all the shit?
Even with carbine classes, minimal gear, mags stuffed into pockets.

I took a few courses with the usual recommended loadout (Glock 19 in OWB holster and 2-4 belt mounted vertical mag pouches on support side). It was certainly fun. Reloads were a breeze. It was good practice for learning to draw a loaded firearm from a holster. One of the 2-day 8-hr/day courses I took (not OFT) would not allow IWB holsters. Only problem: When I can carry, I'll never carry OWB with exposed magazines. I will carry a single stack 9mm (Glock 43 or similar-sized pistol) IWB with magazines in support side front pocket.

The next few courses I took with OFT, I went with my IWB Glock 43 and magazines in my left front pocket for a more "real life" simulation. Reloading was certainly more difficult (and showed me that I should find an IWB mag carrier solution). I'm certainly far from an expert, but I am now very comfortable rapidly deploying my firearm from a concealed IWB position (and...frequent dry fire practice drawing doesn't hurt, either).

If you take a concealed carry course with OFT, you will have to conceal your firearm even if you attend with a full OWB rig. So, bring necessary cover garments if you take one of their concealed courses. I've been to several, and I'll attend more.

You nailed it. Keep in mind if the class says "Concealed Carry", then the gun should be......(wait for it).........drum roll please..... (wait for it)......

Yes we still get people that show up to a "concealed carry pistol class" with OWB holsters and the 3 to 5 mag competition style mag carriers,...etc.
Cover it up. Big part of the class is learning holster draw from concealment.

Had a woman in the class on Sunday who had an OWB Alien Gear. I dont know what holster it was but she originally bought it for her Walther PPS and was able to buy a replacement "shell" (?) for her new Gen 5 Glock 19. SEVEN holster draws into the class and the 'screw on paddle' that sits inside the waistband came very loose. Loose to the point where you could move the paddle left and right 3/4 of an inch. Very cheap, very UNSAFE. I let her use my Blackpoint Tactical Leather Wing OWB
for the day and she loved it.
