Ok, so I bought the Worksharp today. I touched up my Kershaw Leek, and made my Opinel #6 shave sharp.

For kitchen knives I have two Smith's sharpeners, one for home one for camp. For my hunting knives I have a Lansky knife sharpening set. A little tedious? Maybe, but it's something to do in the winter on a snowy day. Plus, my hunting knives are scalpel sharp.
This is how sharp my knives are with the new Work Sharp sharpener. Was at Olive Garden on a call for a leaky water line. Noticed it was a hose and the leak was 2 inches from the fitting. Shut off the water and I said this will be an easy fix. Pulled out my pocket knife after just thinking about how sharp it was and proceeded to start cutting the hose. Wasnt paying attention because for some stupid reason I was excited about using it, slipped and cut the end of my finger off. I said what the fuck, bled all over, wrapped a shitload of paper towels around it. One of the girls looks over and almost passes out,,,,you need a doctor. I said no I'm good I'll be finished in a minute. She ran and grabbed me the entire medical kit. She is freaking out and I'm laughing. I said I'll live. Finished the job and left.
It took the end of my finger off so fast I didnt even really feel it. I was amazed and happy with how sharp my previous dull knife is.

I love mine. It's not the ken onion, it's the original, but it is great, puts a shaving sharp edge on anything I have tried in just a few minutes. I was able to find a leather strop for it on Amazon as well.

All that motorized shit is going to wipe out a fine blade in no time.
And as far as a fine blade goes, unless you spending $$$, just look for Molybdenum.
If the knife has no Mo, it's crap.

I have one it works great now I wish I bought the Keith Onion (this one has more chose in belt plus a stroopping belt).
If you work slow and steady you will sharpen the knife to were your can shave with it speed is not your freind.

Set mine up today. Put a quick edge on an Old Gerber Profile first, and then happy with the results a quick edge on my PM2. The sharpmaker make my PM2 nearly factory sharp, but spotty (no doubt my hand sharpening skills), but this easily brought it back to factory and a nice even edge in 3-4 passes.
Yeah, you know how many fine blades Spyderco resharpens in a year with a powered machine?

Anyone here able to compare an OG Work Sharp to the Ken Onion version? I saw a video online of a guy who has used both and prefers the original for noobs and the Ken Onion if you're good at freehanding it. I guess he said there's something about the spring-loaded guide on the Ken Onion that makes it so you can't support/rest the knife against it as you pull the blade through because it moves. I've got a bunch of different knives, and a hatchet that I use semi-regularly, I'd love the upgraded version, but if I only need the original, then I'm not gonna waste my money.

I bought the KO model a couple months ago. There is a learning curve and I haven’t learned it yet. I’ve only tried it a few times. Just haven’t wanted to get into it lately
