AR build parts recommendations?

Sexy! First builds are always fun ain't they? Lol. A little tip, don't get discouraged if it doesn't cycle rounds properly first time out. There's a break in period, and after about 200 rounds and 100 or so dry cycles, I stripped it down, degreased, and re lubed everything, and not a single issue. Looks good brother, let us know how she performs!

Thank you thank you first builds are exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Any specific things that need lubing up other than BCG and charging handle and trigger springs? Also thinking of using fire clean or hopes 9 oil. Recommendations for oil/ lube and degreaser? Waiting on ammo to get it zeroed at 50 or 100 yards.

Absolutely brother! That's the fun in it... Lol. Lube everything-all inside upper receiver, take down/pivot pins, even a light coat on the buffer and buffer spring. Do not lube the firing pin itself tho-just clean and dry it. Lubing it can cause it to get gunked up and potential issues. I use a touch of lithium grease on the hammer as well.
I was using synthetic motor oil, then a good buddy of mine gave me a box full of Frog lube kits, solvent to clean and decrease, and CLP to lube up. I've read mixed reviews on Frog Lube, but I will say, it's pretty damn nice. It's vegitable based, green if you will, and actually has a nice smell... Lol. I would recommend it for sure.
I've heard good things about Fire clean, but haven't used it, so I can't say for sure how it is. Frog Lube makes their own solvent, which is a degreaser/cleaner... But if you're not looking to use FLube, brake cleaner is an excellent cleaner/degreased for your gun. Spray it down, and scrub with a nylon brush for a minute or two, and then wipe all off with a dry cloth, Just make sure you don't get it on the polymer/synthetic plastics. Wipe it off immediately if it does, because it can eat it up.

Mix in a container by adding grease to oil stir until it is thick enough to run off your finger/mixer/stick in a thread vs dripping. I suggest a powered mixer of your choosing, but once it’s made it works far better than any plain gun oil. ARs love to run wet, and they can get warm. Regular gun oils don’t hold up as long as the home made mix.

The grease mixed in helps thicken it up so it doesn’t run, or fling off too easily/quickly. Plain old 30w is just not good enough for my wants. I already have several oils/CLPs to choose from with similar viscosities as 30w, but I like the performance of the hybrid home cooked goodness much more than the commercial options. Think of it like Chips Ahoy vs fresh baked cookies out of your home oven. With chocolate milk. And ammo.

* I pretty much only use this homemade elixir on my AR, my Ruger PCC, and certain places on my pump shotgun. Never on my pistols. Or sammiches. Mmmmm, sammiches…

I just got a new ambi selector from JoeBob Outfitters. It’s made with th3 option of 60/90 degree throws and it has two different length levers which will fit on either side. I looked at a bunch of similar selectors from various venders, but just didn’t see the need to drop $35-80+ on an ambi selector. Then I stumbled on JoeBob’s while looking for something unrelated, and for $16 I said “Send it.” Looks like a winner. Aluminum levers, steel center section.

Nice! I picked one up a while back, I believe it was a strike industries? Anodized aluminum selectors in red, I don't think it does the 45° positioning tho... I didn't notice. $24 from optics planet. Being a lefty, It's nice having the short lever on the left side and out of the way of your trigger finger.
