AR trigger recommendations

So I have finally started to set aside funds for getting my replacement Daniel Defense rifle, haven't even shot it yet!
I will be putting a nice 1-6 scope on it and I want a really nice trigger on it as well. However I run milsurp or milspec (its cheaper) ammo almost exclusively so I want full power springs to reliably touch off the hard primers of such ammo.
This rifle will sadly see more paper punching on the range but it's intended role is that of an all round go to rifle, the one I grab for SHTF.
It will not be the designated HD gun though so I think I can go a little lighter on the pull weight. I have been looking at the Hiperfire 24 triggers but they just seem a little too complicated for my purposes, more of a dedicated competition trigger.
The other trigger I am looking hard at is the Geissele SSP

Single-Stage Precision (SSP) M4 Curved Bow

I have heard that Geissele use full power springs that work well with hard primers.
If not tell me.

What other triggers would you recommend?Keeping in mind my routine use of hard primered ammo.
Also I strongly prefer a single stage.


The scope I am going to go with is the Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 in a Bobro mount and BUIS from the same.

2 stage is better for punching paper,,,2 of my rifles use what the gentlemen above suggested,,,Geissele SSA-E

Great trigger, better for accuracy and just as fast as a single stage. If you arent use to double stage,,,it will be familiar after about 2 times shooting the gun

PS if you choose this trigger wait till Black Friday,,,scored mine for 180 bucks for the second trigger,,,straight from geissele. First one cost me 240

The Geissele is a nice trigger, However I had a Timney trigger in my AR 10 which I liked better. It broke so clean. You cant really go wrong with either one. I may have a brand new Timney laying around somewhere I can let go for a large discount .Gotta search though.

I've heard positive things about the Larue trigger. I wanted to put one in my AR before I moved them out of state. They don't offer triggers for the large pin Colt so I left the crappy stock trigger in it. I'll be looking at a Geissele at some point down the road.

Read great things about the elf triggers. My buddy has one is his 6.5 Grendel build. I like it a lot. That’s just me though

If this is a SHTF setup maybe binary trigger? Especially if you are going to be on your own, increased rate of fire is nice to have.

@holdover, I am giving serious consideration to the Timney trigger. The one you have, is it the regular AR15 competition trigger? The other one, the Calvin Elite one is too much........ stuff for this rifle. I want something a little more basic which the standard Timney comp is. If I were ordering it I'd prolly go with the 3lb weight.
Let me know if you find yours and are still wanting to get rid of it.

Nothing better than the Counter-strike XJ2-LJT super sniper RT2 tacticool R2D2. lol

Seriously guys... the timney or the geissele 2 stage or even the Rock river Arms 2 stage national match that is less than half the price
and works like the others. The fulton armory will sell you a RRA and a wilson barrel to go compete.
Les baers makes the most accurate out of the box AR one can buy aside from a Match withley or white oak and all those use Geisselle
Timney same thing. But even the RRA NM stock with the spring a bit tamed and broken in is the same as other triggers costing 2 to 3 times more.
I have all sort of them and from now own I either use the RRA 2S to save money because it doesn't make a darn difference.

So beware of the snake oil salesman.

Rock River Arms is as dead to me now as Springfield Arms is.

Built a gun for a friend about 2 months ago,,,ordered a 2 stage varmint trigger from RRA for 90 bucks. Its also the same trigger I have in my 3rd AR. Its a really nice trigger and is just slightly and I mean slightly not as nice as the SSA-E. Which I paid quite a bit more for.

The varmint trigger has a lighter pull than the national match.

Sorry,,,I'll stop recommending 2 stage triggers, when you are looking for a single stage.

Any opinions on CMC (Chip McCormick) triggers? I've been reading very good reviews on both single and two stage triggers from them.

I have been and always will be a Geissele fan. Always have used their two-stage triggers and have loved them. Their Super Dynamic Combat Trigger (Super Dynamic Combat (SD-C) Trigger) is my favorite one. Meant mostly for quick target acquisition but I've used other ones for more precision shooting. Matter of fact, just bought another one this weekend when Brownells had their sale going on.

I'm sure there are other manufacturers who make solid triggers, but for me, I'll also be a Geissele guy.

Pod, did you ever check out the Larue single stage curved trigger. Last I knew it was about 150 bucks. That may have been a sale price or the regular price.
I don't currently recall. You may want to look into it. Other than that I also favor the Geissele.

So, I think I am going to try that Larue MBT trigger that @96coal449 suggested.
It's a two stage trigger actually but they are on sale for $87 right now and from what I read are the equal of the Geissele SSA, so I think it behooves me to at least try one.
I am going to order one a little later today when I get home.
Also got a line on the BUIS I want slightly used at a $50 discount vs brand new.
Just leaves the mount and the scope. That will have to wait for tax refund time.

I have the Rise Armament trigger in my AR9 and like it a lot. Nice clean break and a drop in install. Haven’t tried geissele or LaRue.
