We're looking to buy a house in Putnam County. I know that NY is a "May Issue" state. I have no felony record or criminal record of any kind. What are the chances of a citizen being granted a CCW permit in Putnam County?

What type of restrictions and what reason's are given for those restrictions? Thank you for responding!permits are issued in every county.
some decide to add restrictions.
Do you currently have a permit?
Putnam is 2A friendly.
Check the sheriff's website for current info on what permits are issued and what hoops are involved.
I don't have a permit. Thank you for letting me know about the Sheriff's website. I took a look at the application from the website and it looks like this isn't a "real" CCW permit. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology? I think of a CCW as a means of self defense when I leave my home for any reason. Not only when fishing, camping, at a range, running a business etc. I see there's an unrestricted carry, but I'm not a peace officer. Is there something I'm missing here? Is there an "unwritten" excuse that citizens in Putnam county use to carry when they aren't engage in some other activity that allows them to carry?
Dutchess County is full carry
I got an unrestricted from Freehill right of the bat back in 2011when I lived in Goshen. It took him about a year and a half to sign it after the sheriff investigators sent it to his desk.If you're not committed to Putnam County, come across the river to Orange. I'll make you a deal on a 3/2.
Oh, and Judge Freehill handles permit applications for T/Newburgh residents. I've heard stories of some getting unrestricted on the initial permit. No personal experience with this though.
@mgunner
1 .. what county are you in now
2 .. how long have you lived there
3 .. how many friends do you have there for references
4.. if you move, how long do you have to wait (live there) before you can apply
5.. how many friends do you have there .. ( will they take references from out of county )
if only this was for voting ..
There is a "written " excuse. It's called the Constitution.

Thank you for the offer but we were looking in Putnam because she works in the city and would be taking the train everyday. Since we're on the subject, do you know how long it takes the train to travel from Orange county to NYC?
I'm on Long Island and been living in this particular home for about 7 years. As you know, Long Island is almost as bad as NYC. We want out of here. It's getting too congested as far as traffic goes, cost of living is absurd, etc.@mgunner

4,000 years. I wouldnt even consider taking the train from there.
I work(ed) in midtown prior to the covid. Cortlandt train station to GCT is under an hour. Door to door my daily was about 3 hours but includes driving to the train, waiting on trains, driving home.
But you should buy 1075's house so he can stop smacking me down for being a Putnam booster in these threads, lol.
For the record the abbreviation is POK, lol.
I'm in southwestern Putnam county.
Train runs out of Beacon in Dutchess County or Salisbury Mills/Cornwall in Orange. If driving, less than 1 mile to I-84 and I-87. 4 miles to Stewart Airport. Just about an hour to Westchester County airport, a little more to Albany.
OK, I'll take a look at the train schedules to see how long the commutes are. Living further upstate is new to us so we have no idea of the commute times. All we were told is that if varies and we just starting looking for a house.
