Mad Max set in 2021?
If film 1 is set in 2016, we will say film 2 is in 2021. The notes to the films say the nuclear war happened around the 2nd film and film 3 is definitely after that. Whatever was happening in the background was conducted by countries that still existed. So Mad Max 2 was happening at a time when states functioned.

Great movies, except for the one we won't mention by name. But the unmentionable one also illustrated how messed up the timelines are, as did Fury Road. I understand the canon to be more along the lines of madmax is kind of a series of legends or something and not necessarily intended to be chronological.

Miller who made the others is back creating the prequel to Fury Road, named Furiosa, set to release June, 2023.

I hope Miller can crank out some others before he retires because we don't need anybody else touching the franchise.

As ready as I'll ever be I suppose. Whatever preps aside I have always had an uncanny ability to survive the most ridiculous situations only a little worse for the wear. Divine intervention or dumb luck I'm not sure, but I lean towards the former.
In fact I'm pretty sure I'm quasi-immortal until God decides my time is up. I can't account for my survival up till now any other way.
I suppose it could also be the work of a malevolent entity which finds amusement in preserving my dismal existence on this earth.

Curious where you found that MadMax timeline? 1, 2 and 3 have pretty good clues in backstory or backgorund, FR comes in with some weird alternate timelines.

Oh, it's probably incorrect...

I searched until I found an article that supports current times and year.

No one knows for sure caused the time lines are all jacked up.

I looked and found what I was looking for.

The first movie opens with " a few years from now" that with the other clues and the fact there is no car in the whole series that was made past the late 70s . We can say the first movie was in the 80s .
Fury road takes place much further in the future some say 50 years after the apocalypse, if max was 20 in the first movie he would be 70 in fury road . The only logical conclusion i can could come up with is Max became a legend, he died and someone picked up his torch .
I really don't think the writers put much thought into movies timelines.

Anyway worse than that, I'll never understand what in hell compelled them to put the same guy who flew the gyro copter in Road Warrior also into <unmentionable> but as a completely different--but similar character. That was confusing as hell and to this day makes no sense. What's up with the Gyro Pilot in Road Warrior and the pilot in Beyond Thunderdome?

Master Blaster from <unmentionable> was a great character, but the warrior kids was cringeworthy in the extreme.

I read this elsewhere and it's all that make sense. Max is basically a legend and as with many stories details are lost/changed, etc.

Yeah that made no sense, as did any of the timeline. They alluded in RW that Max continued on with Pappagallo's car. Sometime between 2 and 3 he got the F150 with the canvas top...but the bad guys in BT are driving Pappagallo's car. I suppose we aren't suppose to notice its the same car but with some more shit scabbed on it lol

I enjoyed FR for the vehicles and the constant action, but as a continuation of the story it was sorely lacking. Way too many unanswered questions, I guess thats what prequels and sequels are for.

I liked FR for its absurdity. Humungus was the best part of Road Warrior, and FR was just more of this with the three bosses, the huge budget on vehicles and explosions. Just a big comic book. They got the midget guy with the telescope, his dumb son, it's all so over the top. Telling people not to get addicted to water is one of the best movie lines ever.
