Wow. From the article if true his permit was revoked because he yelled at police for sloppy police work. They failed to find all shell casings and log them into evidence so yeah this is sloppy. What I didn't see, is that he is suing the shit out of them, with the help of the NRA. Or, is the NRA using him only for publicity sake?
I would also venture a guess that since he left NY to move to CA, his politics may be left of center? If so, I would suggest he stay there and keep getting shit upon.

This is the case where you now have two criminals.
The original criminal trying to hurt the homeowner, and the county (likely a judge) for revoking the homeowner's permit.
In my opinion, the homeowner is at higher risk right now because of the publicity. They should not only have police monitoring the area, but the homeowner should be armed to the kilt.
Right now, everyone in the whole wide worlds knows this guy is disarmed. Now it's free and easy access not only to his home, but his family making him and his family vulnerable.
Not a situation I would want to be in, but unfortunately these laws put us harms way when we need to defend ourselves and others the most.

It would be good if the NRA can help this guy get his 2A rights back. But Mr. Richie appearing in what seems to be a NRA involved/produced video might result in a CommieCali judge/system to dig the heals in and break the guys balls for as long and hard as possible. In the vid Richie comes across as the confrontational type, which might be a disadvantage for him. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

He’s not disarmed at his home. You don’t need a permit to have a gun on your property in CA per the article. Again I don’t know.
I could see if they revoked his permit for pursuing them and CA was a duty to retreat state like NYS but for simply yelling at some one. Again if true I hope two things happen. First he gets very wealthy from a lawsuit and the court of public opinion comes to this guys aid with how sick of criminals they are.

I always think of the "what if" situations here. What if someone comes to my home and is trying to break in. What if they aren't armed and I shoot and kill them. If the cops are involved then you most likely will be arrested and lose your guns. NY favors the criminals in these cases.
What are the other options? I do own a backhoe and live in a very rural area where neighbors wouldn't hear the shots or give two shits if they did. I could very easily just dispose of the body, clean up the mess and be done with it. But is it that easy? Did the guy have a cell phone that can be tracked? Drive and park somewhere or close or get dropped off? Did he tell anyone else what he was doing? The cops may come a knocking and then you are really screwed.
I suppose another option is to have a throw away pistol not registered to plant on someone in that situations. Dead men can't talk. It is pretty sad to think of these things when it comes to making split second decisions to protect your family.

I think the same way. Here in NYS even a good or justified shoot, use a gun or other lethal force to defend you or yours, and you'll at minimum pay thru the ass in lawyer/court costs.

Taking guns out of the equation, there has been plenty of times law abiding citizens using say a knife to kill the criminal. In court, if the criminal didn't have a knife, you are in the wrong for using a knife.
You see where I'm getting with this? Like stated above by @Willyone, you'll at minimum pay thru the ass in lawyer/court costs.
In places like NYS, the criminal always has the advantage of working the system.

For a pistol you do the article says you don’t for California. Stupid Giffords says the same. He’s not charged with a crime and seemingly committed no crime so they can’t take his guns away and it seems for CA they don’t take your guns if your permit is revoked or he’d have said he was disarmed. After all this is an NRA commercial to get our funds.

Yet we’ve seen this stuff many times over and NYC tried to fry some bodega owners and that didn’t go so well. A few people had guns in sensitive locations and could have been charged yet weren’t. Maybe we overreact about this crap I don’t know.

i sure as hell can't buy a pistol in NYS and take home unless i have NYS permission permit ..
and if go to a free state and buy one and bring it back .. im screwed with no permit if caught ..
just like any out of state permit holder driving thru NYS and get pulled over and have not a NYS permit ..
there arrested and jammed up ..
Assuming, of course, that the FFL in the free State would even sell you one (if you're not just getting from the "free FFL" down the street).

Ironically, after they steal them all, there is nothing stopping him from going and getting more.
Years ago, my NY CCW was wrongfully suspended. Yet, even after I had gone to Court and gotten it immediately reinstated by the Judge’s order, and finally managed to get my CCW permit card back from the Erie County PPO, the OPPD was refusing to return my handguns to me and jerked me around for a few months more .
I had finally had enough, and went out and bought another handgun, and took my receipt down to the PPO, and got it added to my permit. And then I picked it up.
And lo and behold, a couple of hours later, I got a call from the OPPD telling me I could come pick up my handguns. Same fucking day,- imagine that! Coincidence? I think not.
