As an AK fan, there are better "AKs" than actual AKs

I just got done watching that. Thought it was a bit silly considering the Galil is an AK. It's not perfect. But I like mine very much.
An idiosyncrasy: The safety is not actually ambidextrous, not really. There are controls on both sides but they are both awkward to operate left handed. Also placing the weapon on safe with the thumb is a bit awkward for a righty as well. I find it easier to sweep upward to safe the gun with the index finger. The stiffness of it requires the palm to be bladed actually.

That's why I wrote there are AKs better than actual AKs, just like the Fin version, and cant remember the name off the top of my head that is an ak but also different

All I know is that you can't do this with an AR.
The orginal Galil was directly derived from the Valmet specifically. The first production Galils were actually built with Valmet receivers.
The South African R4 was basically a Galil clone. The Ace is is largely derived from refinements of the Micro Galils and the sum of these refinements coalesced into the Ace we know by the Columbian state run arsenal INDUMIL which had been producing Galils under license. It currently manufactures the Ace for its military. IWI actually adopted the INDUMIL design and added a STANAG magwell for export sales. I belive the INDUMIL version uses the original 35 round 5.56 and 25 round 7.62 Israeli magazines which they no doubt have a large inventory of.
This has led some people to belive that the Galil Ace as sold in this country is actually made in Colombia but it is not. The commercial export versions are made in Israel by IWI
Valmets themselves are highly prized by AK enthusiasts but are more difficult to find and more expensive than the original model Galils.
All this being said I wanted an Ace simply because I wanted both a good 308 semi auto and some kind of Kalashnikov pattern and the Ace scratches both itches at once. And it scratched them well, it's still my favorite rifle.

Because an AR doesn't have a removable top cover and it would be difficult to stuff twinkies behind the BCG in through the ejection port.
