What does NYSRPA do?

I've got the latest issue (April 2022, received in late May) of Bullet Magazine in front of me. On the cover, "Lee Zeldin For Governor of New York" before the friggin' primary! There's a letter from Tom King that has a lot of words, but says nothing. It starts with, "Friends: What will it take to fire up the outdoor sports and shooting communities...." Perhaps NRA Board member King missed the meetings where the budgets for shooting sports and education activities were slashed and burned like an Amazon rain forest. Try calling NRA to schedule a sanctioned match - it ain't pretty. You know what also got sportsmen and shooters involved? The rallies in Albany that Tom King had a change of heart over participating in.

Next, lets look at nyrpa.org. There are 4 posts on the home screen.
- Jan 5, 2022 - Join Tom King at the Albany Gun Show.
- March 2, 2022 - Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah (a little late on that one!).
- March 2, 2022 - Reelect Tom King NRA Board of Directors - a link to Bullet Magazine.
- May 19, 2022 - A link to the April Bullet Magazine with a front cover plug for Zeldin, and again, a little late. Not a lot going on in the 2A Dept. in NY I guess.

I spoke with (or at?) Tom King two times. First was at a gun show. He was standing by himself at a table with an NYSRPA banner, making no effort to engage with the people walking by. I introduced myself and thanked him for coming and got a confused look with a combination mumble and grunt in return. The second time was at the Lobby Day in Albany when LaPierre came to speak. I saw Tom sanding in the hallway to the Well and again introduced myself and thanked him - and got the same confused look and mumbly grunt in return. To say I am unimpressed with the man and his PR abilities is an understatement.

While we're at it @Carl Gottstein , care to address the large salary increase Tom gave to himself? Or hiring his daughter to print the Bullet Magazine? I'd love to see the other bids NYSRPA got for that contract - oh yeah, there weren't any others.

I would love to be set straight on this!

I remember 2013 quite well. The SAFE Act passed with near no roadblocks or hurdles from the NRA. Near nothing. You sir may believe what you will, I know the facts. They were almost invisible during that time.

We went to Albany, they refused our invitations. The NRA is dead to me, hopefully they just go away for good. They do nothing for me.

All of the players involved left office under dubious circumstances.

Just for fun, can you point to anything nyrpa has accomplished besides a lawsuit they haven't won yet? Besides of course standing around with their hands in their pockets.

Also, I'd love to hear why Tom King is continuing to support Wayne LaPierre despite him driving the NRA down the drain. As a benefactor life member, I'm very upset with both Wayne's performance and Tom Kings continued support of him and the damage he's doing.

NYSRPA has been educating and training and working to elect pro 2A officials for 151 years, our record is unchallenged and unblemished.

Wayne won his election w a vote of 55-1

So I guess your opinion of W.L. as prewritten by Bloomberg was not the majiority’s opinion. Better luck in three years.

I am a huge WL fan, because I happen to know his record is one of amazing successes and he pains democrats to no end, I like that too.

Wayne supports the good work of nysrpa.org at every opportunity. Do yourself a favor, stop believing the Tish James of the world. You should know Wayne and the NRA are not what democrats paint us to be.

We do contract Bullets printing with a firm Tom’s daughter is involved with & Tom’s salary as a full time employee is conservative, was the boards decision and is far far far less than he earned as VP of The Galisi group. Bullet Magazine is my responsibility and I had to rework it due to the high cost of Bullets previous iteration. I’m so doing we managed to produce a far superior product and saved 30k on the publication in our first year.

I personally went thru a large number of other bids that I received after I solicited them.
We wanted to save cash, one bid stood out.
I personally vetted them prior to submission to the nysrpa’s bod, the BOARD chose the lowest bidder and nysrpa received free layout included at no extra charge, saving us more than anticipated.

Wanna know what is really odd? In a matter of only a few minutes, I found at least seven threads dated prior to the signing date in regards to what was coming.

A bunch of non high IQ gun guys knew about this and talked about it at great lengths, but these organizations; these groups of highly paid people did not know it was coming. Odd indeed.

Gun forums across the state suspected it was coming, as did nysrpa officials, that’s why we were in contact on the day w gop leadership, no one KNEW Cuomo was going to pull that stunt. We suspect a lot of things are pending, untill it happens it’s all conjecture. There is no great mystery, it was simply a successful deception.
We were ALL lied to. It happens. We are not defending the actions of those involved, we were just as against the safe act as anyone and UNLIKE most of those complaining, we fought it in court! So I would ask everyone to save the vitriol for those not fighting the good fight.
Nothing we or any of you could do to stop it, or we would have stopped it.
