Seems like a setup. In NY you can't make pistols without them being on your permit no? So if you showed up with 3D printed guns and decided not to sell then what? I see you guys came up with that scenario above. In a free state this wouldn't be an issue but... Also, what about actual handguns that arent on your permit? I would never trust NY to actually be no questions asked. Wouldn't touch an NY "buyback" with a 10' pole.

I think that is correct. I can't see them allowing you to leave with whatever you bring so if you have a homemade or 3-D printed gun or 100 of them youre going to be sent on your way with $25 bucks and they will keep whatever you brought.

Right. That's the hilarious/ridiculous nature of these "buybacks". Only the law abiding participate in them. You have the smart guys like on here that have a gun worth less than what is being given out for them. They then take the money and buy either a newer and better gun, put it towards an even newer and better gun or buy ammo. Nothing solved there. Then you have the occasional old widow that just wants to get rid of her husband's stuff for a few extra bucks. That's when travesties occur like Sturmgewehrs getting handed over to the fuzz. Interesting how exceptions can be made to not destroy them in that situation though. And lastly you have the opportunists that will take a bunch of 3D/homemade guns in to make a nice little profit. The person can literally make their own guns! Nothing solved there.

Criminals aren't bringing in their guns. They either need them for their day to day activities or can make way more money off of them on the black market. Criminals can't exactly take the money from the "buyback" and go to an FFL and get another one. They could go back to the black market though I suppose. Either way nothing solved. "Buybacks" are the epitome of "we have to do something" and "it's not our money so fuck it".

$25 for a 3D printed gun is the max regardless of the amount? No way. Stingy B@%$!#^s. I will keep all that I have made and re-purpose the models into something else more interesting. It's not worth it.

you make a AR pistol and then go put it on your permit .. well used to be that way till the pistol brace issue ..

but hit the hardware stores .. there selling gun parts too .. no permit needed ..

I don't see why not.

Think of the husband and wives or good friends who put pistols on each other's permits. I'm sure there are divorces or whatever people changing their mind and there has to be a way to get them off.

I was just thinking of some sort of receipt with the serial number so the PPO can be sure you no longer possess it.

I will likely be going to recoup some of my wasted tax dollars

There were 2 middle aged ladies there. Both had several old rusted pitted handguns. Probably 32s they found in their fathers garages. Probably worth 50 dollars each if that .

YUP, I was at Syracuse Buy Back, at 9:30. No Gangbangers. I talked to a guy who bought a $350 pistol a few weeks ago and is turning it in for $500 to buy a $500 pistol.

Like I said the saddest thing I saw was some guy in front of me was convinced the pre-safe act pure bushmaster hidden in his closet was a liability so he donated it for a loss for 500.

I saw a lot of pure crap being sold to the state for a profit for the individual selling it.

In Suffolk a guy had a bag of what looked like auto sears and they gave him nothing. Not sure fi they also took them. He was not happy at all.

I will say that you are given a card that is not linked to you personally. It's just randomly pulled from a pile of envelopes.

I absolutely agree that they are collecting data on what the gift cards are used for 100% but they can't track it to individual person. I can't wait for them to see mine used in full for a new gun.

A Friends house burnt down few months ago .. 95% of the guns burnt up / melted ..

some were found and some were not ..

Tried getting the gun taken off the permit at the gun show today. Since the buyback happened in Niagara County they couldn’t do it. Have to go downtown I guess. They really tried. Guy was on the phone trying to take care of it for a while. No biggie. Not sure what the hiccup is tho.
