So very much to unpack from this video. This video has plenty of footage to make a good response./
I will start out by saying, I do not think he has Balls of steel per-say, what he has is very good knowledge of the law and his Rights.
He is a strong person for stepping up and standing his ground.
(The Veteran thing, I never think this is needed.)
I salute him for standing up for all that he knows and he believes. High Kudos to him.
The Police, I bow my head in shame to all of them. Especially the Chief. He used his Tazer as intimidation and backed down wicked fast. That was a cowardly move.
Once again, we have a video showing exactly what not to do as a cop. There are always many ways to handle a situation with the free citizens of these Once United States, they show once again, what not to do.
The fear in their voices, their look and their actions tell me all I need to know about them.....

I kind of like to know what lead up to all this. Was he open carrying and some Karen just called the cops saying there was a dude with a gun or something else?
Happens all of the time in some of the free states. People, citizens walking around, minding their own business....
A cop rolls up or they get the call of a man with a gun and all hell breaks out.
If called, life can be so damn simple......
Man walking with a gun, police get called. Police arrives in the area. Introduces self to 2A citizen, explains to the guy why he is there. Ask a simple question to the gun carrying man, "everything good?". Man replies, yes. Incident ends.....

Balls of Steel.
It sounds like in last maybe 2 seconds of video before it cuts out off screen the guys sidekick is getting tazed or thrown to the ground. So you can imagine how this went after the camera cut out.
I've seen some of these videos similar to this before, they call them "2nd amendment audits" to remind the police merely carrying a gun is not a crime (obviously you need to know the legality of your actions) in that jurisdiction.
All the random citizens clearly didn't feel in danger they were video taping the incident. If they genuinely thought there was risk of a shootout they wouldn't be standing there, so clearly no one other than the police really seemed threatened.
All I can say is in my opinion it's never a bad thing when people take personal risk to protect rights.

If I knew that this dude really didn't do anything wrong, I would testify that the police made me feel more threatened by unholstered guns and the AR-15s being deployed with fingers near the trigger.
The police chief could've told them to get back in their cars and he could've handled it professionally with the guy.

In Texas he is in the right, Big balls and all. He remained calm and stated facts. Probably not how I'd approach the situation, but he's correct.

The idea of open carry makes me nervous. In certain situations It draws so much attention to yourself. There are so many ignorant people and jumpy police officers nowadays.
I commend this guy for exercising his rights, being informed and not crumbling.

I salute the guy. The cops should have realized 20 seconds into the conversation with him there was no problem. But then pride got in the way. They couldn't back down in front of all those people and probably didn't like the public lecture on the law. And this happened in texas of all places.
I hope the guy gets a lawyer and sues the police department for a whole lot of money.

If the guy isn't pointing the gun at anyone, acting calm, just talk to him. Even if he had intent to hurt people, yelling at the guy is not going to help that situation and probably inflame him to violence.

My point is people are people and power over others can corrupt; it isn't the location it is the integrity of the person with the "power".
If the people in " power" never get a taste of their actions they have no reason to change/control what they do.

When they pulled people over they had weapon in one hand and a clip board out in front so you didn't see the 357 pointing at your mug. I personally saw this.

The line between brave or dumb is a fuzzy one and may be entirely dependent on one's point of view.
My view is that these audits can serve a usefull purpose if done properly, can be counterproductive if done improperly and is a brave act if the individual recognizes and accepts the risks of their actions and are dumb if they don't.
They guy shouting at the end only unnecessarily escalated the situation and this was counterproductive.
I think it takes a certain type of person to do these audits effectively.
Someone that is calm and rational and is able to stand tall on the line without being combative. Its a difficult balancing act.
Our subject here calling the cops stupid was counterproductive. It looks better in court if you are very polite. It is possible to be firm, to not yield, while also being polite.
I certainly couldn't do this type of thing, I'd get too worked up.
I also think it's pathetic of the police here would get so out of joint over a sidearm which is a normal thing for a lawfully armed citizen to carry.
Though equally improper it would be more understandable if our subject were carrying a long gun of some kind which at least is generally out of the ordinary.
I myself had a small but positive experience with a cop in regards to carry. I had been pulled over for an expired registration (I was over the road at the time and left home with the registration due in 1 month which I forgot about when I stayed out another 3 weeks and was thus expired when I got back, had shit luck and got nailed on my way home form the yard)
In PA there is no duty to inform but if asked directly I am legally obligated to answer truthfully. Failure to do so could potentially get your permit pulled. When asked if I had any firearms I responded
"I have a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms and I am carrying at this time"
He paused a moment then asked where I was carrying and I told him on my right hip, IWB.
He replies "That’s fine, License and insurance please."
I asked if he would like to see my carry permit. He paused again and I say it's fine it's right next to my driver's License anyway. Then he just says sure.
I then tell him I always carry whenever it's legal for me to do so
And he says he doesn't blame me and he always carry concealed off duty as well.
Just as things should be. He gave me the freaking ticket though which peeved me since I thought I had a reasonable excuse, a fix it ticket would have sufficed, I would have taken care of it as soon as I got home.

Depends on the area. It was kind of surprising how many down here open carry. Those that carry concealed are the odd ones here.
