I don't thunk its they bayonet that's illegal so much as the ability to attach one to a non C&R semi auto rifle. 590A1 has a bayo lug and its legal for instance.

I was talking about the "AW" ban. If we could make socket bayo's with a .75 inner diameter tube that slip over the barrel on an ar, what could the libtards do about it? ban barrels?

Considering the law bans bayonet mounts not lugs on assault riffles I would say your socket adaptor would be considered a bayonet mount therefore making it illegal. So to respond to what could they do about it I would say arrest you, charge you with a felony, since it's nys convict you of a felony, send you to jail, take all your guns, and make you a prohibited person so you can never own a gun again. That's what.
I don't agree with it I'm just stating how the law would look at it.

How could they say its part of the rifle if is detachable, by that logic every gun in the world has a fixed mag because it in the gun, thus becoming part of it.
I'm not stupid; I meant have somebody exempt make this, force the state to rule, and have the NRA sue them. They could do the same thing with the ATF's own definition of the permed muzzle devise being part of the barrel.
The mistake everyone is making here is in trying to divine a clear and defined meaning in a piece of legislation that never had any in the first place. And it wasn't by Cuomo's design either. They ban bayonet mounts not the bayonet. I was at a gun show and tons of bayonets. So when your referring to a detachable magazine ar-15 "assault riffle" bayonet mounts are banned. If you design a bayonet mount and attacht it your breaking the law simple as that. If you fix your magazine go ahead and have a bayonet mount. I don't see why they care about bayonet mounts, but they do. Bayonets are not a threat, but they scare whinny liberals. Again I don't agree with the safe act of any of the assault riffle BS. You asked for opinions and this is one. You agree or you don't. If you make something to attach a bayonet your violating the law as I read it on the nys safe act web site. Also ayonets are detachable as far as I know.
They ban bayonet mounts for the same reason they ban muzzle devices and collapseable stocks: the antis see these as integral features of "assault weapons" and by banning these features they think they can ban that class of firearm. They give a shit about bayonets in particular.
Obviously all of you fail to recognize the terrible problems we have with drive by bayonetings!!!

You bayonet "mount" argument is nonsense. The tube on a socket type bayoment is part of the baynet, not part of the rifle. Show me where the bayonet mount is on the mosin rifle. You can't; the bayonet is its own mount.
Legal to own but not carry I belive.
