OK, I shouldn't bring this up as things are going to go downhill fast. I've heard that Beaver tail is good eating, supposedly grilled with the hide on the layer of fat under it keeps the meat moist and tender while cooking. When the skin chars and cracks it's done. OK have fun

For what it's worth I do know people who have gotten permits to remove beavers after contacting DEC. I don't know the details on what they did to get it. I believe there was a town bridge nearby and it was threatening that. Again, I don't know the circumstances.

Seeking out trappers would also be a good course of action. I was actually thinking about trying to get my trapping license this year.

nuisance permits can usually be had by just placing a call to your local DEC person. They only ask you bury the dead. set up down stream at dusk and happy plinking. Trapping is too boring.

I'd get a good Air Pellet Gun (quiet).

Sight in in real good, then visit the Beavers once in a while.

And not tell anyone - especially the missus (big mouth).

You should never tell the Missus when you are out hunting beavers. it just doesnt go well.

Same thing with cougars.

The kid and I have shot about 2 dozen wood chucks that couldn't stop destroying my retaining wall. Then yesterday I see one under the apple tree enjoying a fruit dinner. good thing I hesitated shooting because it was a beaver. Not sure how long he'll live being out in broad daylight with the eagle population.
