I'm trying to figure out who said turn light on as soon as gun is grabbed and leave said light on... but people just see what they want to fit their own biases

Doesn’t matter if it’s on for half a second. The minute I see it come on that’s where a burst will go if I’m the aggressor and the defender turns it on. The defender always has an advantage because the aggressor has to find him when entering a dark room. Turning on the light breaks the defender’s concealment and just tells the aggressor where he needs to focus his attention at.
So this video got me thinking (cz is offering even the P-10s as an optics ready) Smith and Wesson was actually pretty early in the factory optics ready offerings with the C.O.R.E. (just beaten out slightly by FN FNX45 iirc)
But it seems like they are not doing a whole lot with the CORE and havent for some time, only 2.0 I can find that is a CORE seems to be their full size gund more geared towards competition.
But at the same time Glock is going full MOS and slowly seems to be offering less and less options without the MOS cut
At close range you don’t aim you point and squeeze. Even if there is a light blinding a person they can shoot in the direction of the light without aiming. Now if they are in your house they don’t have to worry about what they hit all they are trying to do is either put the light out or put down the guy holding it.
I will stick with what I was trained to do and what I know works for me.
If it doesn’t work for you don’t do it.

There’s a reason why infantry and combat arms MOS’s train against a light in CQB. Lights are only good at checkpoints when illuminating vehicles where the potential assailant is boxed inside a coffin and not coming in weapons hot.
Other things to consider when running a red dot, especially ones that dont auto adjust (not a fan of those I want fixed illumination that I can control)
How the dot will react in indoor lighting, low light, and outside high noon middle of summer not a cloud in the sky.
I have noticed that with my RM07 my two go to settings (one indoor one outdoor) are generally 2 adjustments apart. But if I go into a very dark room I will dim the foot one extra and if it's super super bright go up one extra
(***edit*** easily fixes with a light buttttt)

Not sure if anyone is really interested in this much data but here is the most up to date white paper put together by Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics, he updates it constantly.
It's about 71 pages of all data you could probably think of or need..
But one of the biggest parts is starting on page 16, optics durability.
Quick over view of his test process is a 500 round "burn down" aka 500 rounds as fast as he can. Followed by a drop test, while mounted. He drops the gun/optic from his shoulder height onto concrete, and he does this every 500 rounds,
He continues to test each optic he is testing until the optic fails beyond use.
Honestly it's worth thumbing through for all the other awesome data he has compiled together.

So I see this more and more (even watched a guy lose his front sight post at a match)

The 507 so far has passed the 10k mark by Aaron with just a smashed window (every 500 rounds he drops the optic/gun combo from shoulder height onto concrete. The 507 smashed on the first drop iirc but held zero and has been chugging along since)

Another option would be to go with a Sig P320 with romeo optics. It's available in 9, 40 and 357. The optics are mounted so you still have full iron sight availability and the iron sights are night sights. Yes, the price is not cheap but if you add in buying a good optic and the price to customize the gun, Sig is more than in the ballpark. The other advantage is that the trigger group is serialized, not the slide or frame. You can purchase caliber or size conversion kits without the need to go through your LGS.

The romeo 1 has turned out to be probably one of the worse choices possible and I dont think the new polymer romeo zero is going to be any better

Ok so looks like the romeo zero did 24 rounds better than the Burris FF3 (324 rounds better than the ff2 on a mount but 476 worse than the ff2 milled onto a slide) and 199 rounds better than a JP enterprise

How so? The reviews and field tests seemed to rank it high.
No they don't. They break with a simple bump into a table

I had looked at reviews before buying one. I couldn't find much stating they were bad. Most had favorable reviews including one field test involving parking a jeep on it, freezing it, dropping, etc. The design is nice. I picked up a compact 9 for colder weather carry. I will keep an eye on it and let you know how it stands up. Thanks for the info.

I will also point out that I know of atleast 1 maybe more milling company (a top one not just a garage boy) that won't offer milling for the romeo 1 because of how much they break

Interesting points for sure. For me, I do not see using the sight in a defensive situation. "hold on while I turn on my sight." I do like access to the iron sights. I had not considered optics on a handgun until I saw the Sig integration. I thought it would be a new option for the range.
If this is just for range use, enjoy worse case if it breaks send it in they fix it (well one will hope and I bet they will)
As for defensive handguns. It's the way to go with the correct optic (the ones that stay on all the time. Ie my RMR never turns off and I only change the batteries once a year, usually on my birthday or close to it, but the RMR also has a 2 year battery life when left on constantly)

The Romeo advertises a one year life when on constantly. I never trusted battery life. If the ability to sight through using iron was not there, I would never consider this as a carry option. Yes, it will mainly be range use. I will carry in colder weather to get accustomed to the feel but have a number of other carry options. Through the years my body size has varied and with it, options for carry. I dropped from 200 lbs to under 150. Amazing how the larger frame guns just don't feel the same or as comfortable.

I have one. I would not put it on a defensive weapon. It's fine enough and all but I have it on a .22 rifle and there it stays.

I also had a ff3 I would easily toss it on a range gun or even a squirrel rifle or something for sure but deff not a carry gun, I gave my ff3 to my buddy with deal that he has to find someone to mill one of his hi points and mount it on there
I remember him in a previous video mentioning that he planned on making this video and I have been anxiously waiting for it to come out
