Tell me more about this agency mount thing.
I'm wanting to pick up a 10mm Glock at some point and I want a red dot on it. It would be cool to have the biggest dog in the Glock lineup, the 40, but I really don't like red dot mounting plates.
I want the RDS mounted low as possible and I'd prefer to have it fit tight within a dovetail.
Maybe I should just save the headache and get a G20.

Ok so @Podmonkey sorry about the delay. Wanted to also get some good pics of the agency milling (AOS, agency optic system)

Intro. Agency does this to uncut slides or will also do it to MOS slides. $225 + mounting plates.

Pros to their plates, 2 main, 1) they are aluminium vs MIM so they will be stronger. (2) they give the user the choice of irons forward or irons rear of the optic.

I personally am a fan of irons forward but options are good, case in point the new Trijicon SRO and irons forward is not doable.

Now on to the main cut. Agency does what looks to be a much lower cut in the slide which will offset the extra material of the mounting plate.

The cut also has a "rib" or "spine" down the middle of the cut which will give the mounting plate a lot more stability

And the plates are mounted with a screw into the plate and slide unlike the MOS which is just the optic screws sammiching the plate between the slide and optic.

Now I am always going to say custom milled a specific dot is always better than these systems but I do believe that the AOS significantly closes that gap especially in cases of already having an MOS or only being able to find an MOS

Expensive, but its looks much sturdier a setup than factory plate systems. The big studs take the strain off the screws.

Yea the price sucks, especially because I believe that is before adding a plate. But it is an option, it is Agency Arms and they have a lifetime service guarantee or whatever (Aaron Cowen talked about it because many agency's dont want non factory modifications)

I have to ask, why would you buy the MOS version if your looking at having it milled anyways? I would say buy a normal G40 and have the slide milled to your desired optic. The pricing is comparable and you have a better mount on a heavy recoil pistol.

I believe glock only offers the G40 as the MOS unfortunately

No because it's not a duty optic and they never advertised it as such.. IIRC the DPP breaks as well, and I am almost positive a Cmore optic (one of if not the most popular competition optic) would do even worse

I decided to go this route with my C More sights.
The 90 degree mount will help prevent failure to clear ejection port malfunctions.

If looking to do a for realz open gun the c-more with a frame mount is the best option.

Frame mounting trumps slide milling when it comes to keeping the dot on target and fast shooting

Only my fun handguns have optics, everything else is irons my defense guns are night sighted. Helps to find them in the dark.

And see i am more and more getting away from night sights.

If it's to dark to see the sights, is there enough light to positively identify a/the threat?

Also.. well red dot stupid easy to find in low light.

I use the night sights to find the gun, lmao. Firing the gun inside the house will normally be done by instinctive pointing/aiming. As almost all engagements will be less than 15 feet certainly less than 30.

I don’t like weapon mounted lights as they give the opponent the opportunity to shoot at the light which, is right in front of you. I was always taught to hold a flashlight high and away from the body. To reduce the chances of being hit by the opposition party.

I agree with @dsdmmat here. If I’m entering a doorway and somebody lights me up with a light, where do you think my rounds will go compared to your partner standing in the shadows with no light. Who do you think will get more lead coming their way? You or your partner in the shadows?

And I would prefer to have a proper 2 handed grip whenever possible. And this goes back to 600/800/1000 lumens, low ready will give you the ability to take in a lot of data.

Not saying a wml replaces a handheld.

Look at any military or swat team and tell me that they enter rooms with weapon lights on.

Lots of these guys that teach classes think they know everything because they grew their beards out. If you take any CQB course in the military you’ll see that going in with a weapon light on is a no no.
