China’s plan to judge each of its 1.3 billion people based on their social behavior is moving a step closer to reality, with Beijing set to adopt a lifelong points program by 2021 that assigns personalized ratings for each resident.
Those with better so-called social credit will get “green channel” benefits while those who violate laws will find life more difficult.



The Beijing project will improve blacklist systems so that those deemed untrustworthy will be “unable to move even a single step,” according to the government’s plan. Xinhua reported on the proposal Tuesday, while the report posted on the municipal government’s website is dated July 18.



The capital city will pool data from several departments to reward and punish some 22 million citizens based on their actions and reputations by the end of 2020, according to a plan posted on the Beijing municipal government’s website on Monday

The only fly in the ointment is that only a fraction of the monitoring cameras and associated paraphernalia will actually be in working order, and only a portion of data collected by that fraction will actually be acted upon. In my travels through China I have not seen Chinese folks lazy ... Unless they work for the government. The folks that work in non government jobs really hustle ... Money is that number one driver. The desire to get rich. ... To own a car... Have the latest cell phone . In China the government has a record on you .. From your birth to death. .. Very detailed . Reports on you from every teacher you ever had . Every employer... .. One just cannot pick up and move to another city like here .If you were born on a farm in a rural poor area ... that is where the government wants you to die of old age. . You have families trying to make a living on 3 acres of land . Farmers can have more than one child ... even during the one child policy era. Poor is poor in China .. No windows on the home, perhaps a single electric light fixture ....Many people leave their children to be raised with their parents and they become migrants only to see their children during the Chinese New Year. . Now move to another city you are illegal No file on you for an employer to send in reports. and this is who the government really wants to crack down on . Population control pure and simple. There are overcrowded cities and the government would love to sent these folks back to the rural areas . IF they can catch them ... And now they will.

We were watching a documentary about a village in China that was being relocated. The entire thing was so freaking sad - from their living conditions, to their views, to the way the government was choosing for them, to the city and housing they were going to be 'given' (after paying a mandatory fee to the govt. for the move). Makes me so damned glad to live here. Even if we do have liberals.
