I haven't been super active on this forum recently (nothing major, just personal/life stuff taking precedent) but I plan on watching the debate and hopefully be commenting on here with the rest of you.
That said, the commentary will be ad hominin attacks and nothing of substance will be discussed. Matters such as the economy/inflation, immigration, Russia/Ukraine, China/Taiwan, decaying infrastructure, public education, energy policy...you know the stuff that actually matters...will at best be paid lip service to but any and all details on solutions to actual problems facing Americans will be basically ignored.

When the moderators blatantly reveal their bias, or actively cover for a Biden gaffe, Trump needs to be ready to say, "Excuse me. Excuse me. I just want to know who I'm debating tonight. Is it the man standing on this stage to my left or is it you two? I need to know where to direct my responses."

I recognize Trump HAD to stand tall, as he always does, and accept this debate and all their blatantly obvious repressive restrictions on him and only on him, but I'm not so sure it'll convince the moderates to vote for him. We all know the TDS crowd ain't voting for the orange man, and the conservatives are voting for him, regardless of the debate outcome. It's only those on the fence, in the middle of the road, that need convincing. Can this lopsided sham of a debate possibly achieve that result? I'm doubtful....but hopeful.

CNN is banning independent media from streaming the debate for commentary. Not just Media Matters, others have also been told they can't. They'll shut channels down with copyright strikes.

We are mere hours away from what will be one of the most-watched presidential debates in history. Joe Biden will be clutching the sides of the podium trying desperately not to topple over while Donald Trump attacks his presidential opponent AND the left-wing moderators who have spent the last 10 years spreading heinous lies about him.
I hope you have plenty of popcorn.
While a lot of jokes have been made about Joe Biden's debate prep (injections, steroids, industrial strength adult diapers) the truth is, a man who has been in Washington as long as Joe Biden has shouldn't have to prep at all. He should know what he's talking about already.
My radio show was much like a debate. A topic would come up, I'd give my thoughts, people would call in and we'd have a back-and-forth convo. Whoever knew the most was the winner.
I never practiced. I never had a script. I just knew stuff. The more you know the less you need to prep.
When we would have politicians and celebrities come into the studio or call in to the show I would simply make a list of bullet points: Questions I wanted to ask or interesting facts about them that would be great conversation starters. No sentences, just bullet points.
That's what Donald Trump does. He knows what he's going to say because he knows what he's going to say. he knows how to articulate his agenda because it's his agenda. He knows facts, and figures, and information because he has been sitting in policy meetings and making plans with experts, and creating a vision to make America great again.
Debate Prep is for stuffed shirts who don't know what their underlings are doing and have to be brought up to speed on focus group-tested sound bites that they hope will hit home with some segment of the electorate.
Donald Trump doesn't need soundbites. He's a walking soundbite. He knows what we need and says it in the simplest way possible.
"Build a wall!"
"Close the border!"
"Drill, Drill, Drill!"
When you know what you are talking about the rest comes easy. When you don't, you need 7 days to prep. Tonight should be a bloodbath.

There is nothing that could be said by either Party that change my vote or the vote of anyone already polarized against Biden or for Trump...those sitting on the Fence at this point are too afraid to admit Biden's failures or scared of repercussions from those who hate Trump...wonder what sort of shit-show would happen if BOTH expired before the elections?
