My wife's solution. If it were me, Id only carry a 32acp.
Kneecap shot to the person youre going with and youre home free.
all kidding aside, Id go with 44 mag
I’d say either one would be fine. Many more .357’s out there than .44 mags. Also a lot lighter.
So a .22 Will?Bigger isn't always better. A gun that has more rounds that's more controllable is the one that you should get.
I was waiting for an asinine response like this one from somebody but since it's a question, the answer is yes if that's the only caliber you can control and are proficient with.So a .22 Will?

Can a stock .357 or .44 be custom ported by a gunsmith?

I choked on my apple after reading those. Literally it got stuck in my throat for like 3 seconds. God those comments made me laughWhen I used to SCUBA dive people would ask why I needed a dive knife strapped to my leg. I would tell them it was in case of a shark attack. Stab your dive buddy and swim like hell.
youre supposed to chew the apple...and choke the chicken. culinary 101I choked on my apple after reading those. Literally it got stuck in my throat for like 3 seconds. God those comments made me laugh
I think magnaport still does that kind of work. Can a stock .357 or .44 be custom ported by a gunsmith?
You said more capacity and more controllable is the way to go. I’m saying that is correct to a certain extent. The big boomers are not the best for me. People say 44 mag, 454, 500 smith. Not good for me but if one can control them have at it. A 50 ounce revolver is not my idea of a fun hiking gun. You still need enough bullet weight though in my opinion. In the extremely unlikely event one is attacked by a black bear the ranges would be close (maybe even contact). I have read many times that revolvers work better at contact distance and it makes sense. If you can get 2-3 shots off quickly then that’s controllable enough in my opinion. Even with my bad arm I could still do it with a .357 mag if I had to. I think something like a .357 under 35 ounces would be great if you want a good ratio of weight and power and carryable.I was waiting for an asinine response like this one from somebody but since it's a question, the answer is yes if that's the only caliber you can control and are proficient with.
For example, if my wife goes jogging on bike trails, a 9mm loaded with the heaviest hard cast would serve her better than a 5 shot .44 Magnum or .357 that she can't hit shit with.
Aren't you going through that same situation yourself with your injuries?
People underestimate their speed. I don’t get close at all. I have seen a bunch while hiking and all have thankfully run when they heard me. Startling a bear would be scary. I saw the revenant hahaHave any of you seen how fast a bear is?
That first shot is crucial, even more crucial is the 2nd follow up and 3rd and 4th.
.357mag more capacity and faster follow up shots incase you miss or it doesn't drop right away .
