Noted. But this thread, or at least this particular tangent of the thread, is about bear (predator) defense, not anti-personnel defense.
There is a reason why many, many hunting and fishing guides still carry revolvers chambered in magnum cartridges. 10mm has seen a resurgence as of late, but I don't see revolvers losing their relevance in the hunting/wilderness niche anytime soon.
Revolvers are in no way obsolete when it comes to hunting big game and/or defending against dangerous predators. Still quite a few manufacturers making older models and coming out with newer ones.
