Responses from the peanut gallery will be interesting.
why does skin color always get thrown in the mix, this is beyond stupid. The only thing I care about is, are you a semi-intelligent, responsible person that respects the law. Thats really to only requirement
It requires a cultural shift, and it does seems things are starting to shift, at least a little bit. 2A is for all peoples. The ultimate goal is to decouple the 2A from any political party. If there is widespread support gun rights among democrat voters the wedge disappears and the gun control dam breaks. Furthermore it would put a great deal of pressure on Republicans to actually support and advance gun rights initiatives as opposed to the bs lip service they currently pay our community.I'm glad the perception seems to be changing in the Black and Hispanic communities. My generation and the one younger than me seem to be buying guns and seeing gun ownership as a responsible, lawful, and fun activity that's necessary for its own sake instead of for some specific reason. In my family's older generations, and I see this attitude with a lot of Hispanic and Black people outside of my own family, it wasn't seen that way at all.
With the older generations, if you were having fun with gun ownership, it was usually illegal. People who "liked" guns were the thug crowd. The ones who lawfully owned guns usually did it because they needed one to protect themselves and/or their businesses in a bad neighborhood. They didn't want to have a gun and didn't like owning guns. It was seen as a necessity and definitely not something they wanted to pass-down to their kids. So for lots of Hispanic and Black young gun owners, even their lawful ownership is looked down on because family will look at them and say things like "Why do you need that? You don't need a gun, so why do you have one?" It's definitely stigmatized in a way I don't see with my White friends, where their gun-owning family is more than happy to pass on things like hunting, shooting, and concealed carry.
I disagree. It's not quite the same thing. It could be that the motivations behind this particular photographer are more SJW in nature but it could also not be. I don't think one can deny normalizing gun ownership is a bad thing. Futhermore highlighting black gun ownership runs counter to the anti gunner narrative. I think this this could be done better than what we saw here but I don't disagree with what is trying to be achieved. The more people that get into gun ownership tge harder it will be to stigmatized it, the more potential votes we gain, the more eyes there are that see how nonsensical our gun laws really are.As usual....
The media, regardless of news site, seems it is always needed to bring skin color into articles.
Many may see this as a positive article; not me
