Okay is this what happened:
Three guys are arresting a woman.
A guy by the trailer opens fire.
The two guys continue to arrest her (no idea why)
The guy who had the bodycam puts some shots out then runs into the field
The guy who had the bodycam then comes back, while screaming at the gunman from a distance at which his pistol is worthless
The guy with the bodycam has a shit-crazy panic attack
Another cop takes his gun from him
That other cop then for some reason unknown gives the gun back to the cop who clearly should never, ever, ever be in the field again
Did I miss anything?

I do not fault him as a man for his panic attack; I have seen the realest of men have attacks due to panic.
He clearly forgot all of his training and allowed fear to completely take over.
Unchecked panic is a horrible thing.

BTW, this story is 3 years old. Deputy resigned years ago.

The scary part was him standing behind the emt guys and lowering his gun to basically point it at them. He definitely chose the wrong profession. I do feel for the guy though. Like you said he probably still fucked up over that.

Depends on the person and the situation.
I have seen mass panic attacks during motor attacks, firefights and the such.
I watched a fireman years ago go into a panic picking up a severed leg from a motorcycle accident

Right. I read a little about it and it seems it can be caused by just about anything or nothing at all. I was more interested in the actual science of it and the chemical reactions going on. Seems like the actual cause is still unknown. I gotta think with the symptoms it's adrenaline related though.

Damn ! That was bad, no way would I have given the gun back to him JUST PLAIN NO WAY. I feel sorry for the guy, having that happen to you and you just know that's the end of your career.
I would definitely think adrenaline is involved. More to the point, the adrenaline dump vs the rush.

Unmanaged stress is usually the biggest cause, although in his case I'm sure adrenaline had a major play in this circumstance. He likely had underlying anxiety issues before this and this event allowed the panic attack to manifest.
Quite a while back I had trouble with anxiety from stress and started getting a panic attack while driving a tri axle dump truck. Went home early and by time I got there I thought I was having a heart attack. Neighbor came up when he seen I was home and he called 911. I wasn't in very good shape. EMTs and ambulance showed up and 5 minutes later they were calling for the advanced life support ambulance. I was one scared SOB when I heard that!
That stuff is nothing to ignore. Simplist terms, it's a chemical imbalance in your brain.

The 2 guys holding her down were EMTs. At first I thought they were cops. But they are EMZs. The guy freaked out when he saw the other guy from the trailer walk out and he just fired. The video doesn’t show the guy by the trailer. He could have very well not had had a gun at all. Based on the response from the other responding officers that came later, it stands to reason that the trailer guy was unarmed or at least detained physically.

totally messed up situation .. i played the vid few times and to me the gun shot sounds to be all from the officer .. a person far away if they did shoot it would be different sound from the distance ..
