Either the "Bomber" was extremely careless, or was no "Bomber" to begin with.

How were they supposed to be detonated? The wires indicate it was an electrical detonator and what appears to be a timing device. All electric blasting caps have a positive and negative wire per cap , this is two single wires , indicating it was not a standard commercial or military cap , and most likely the wires were combined in the middle of the charge, and most likely an electric , non chemical detonator .
There cannot be a an anti handling device if your sending it through the mail like this.

If this is a timing device , which it sure as shit looks like, then this whole thing is a fucking hoax . Nobody sends a time bomb, you place a time bomb. The unibomber sent bombs in wooden packages with anti handeling devices protected inside box , when the box was opened the device was set off by releasing a mechanism . This thing is a fucking joke , I wonder if it came with instructions? Actually now that I look at it real close you can see the numbers on the clock .

     2. You can find timers / remote control receivers WAY smaller than whatever that white box is. A proper timer would best be stored inside the pipe, making it fully encapsulated. That thing is just silly looking.

     Nailed it. Also, the photo doesn’t appear to be taken by a bomb tech or crime scene investigator. Bad angle, poor lighting, etc. So if it’s being taken by a journalist... Why would they let them near a “live” pipe bomb???

As former LEO - We would NEVER release images or ANY information about an alleged explosive device(s), details about how they arrived or anything like that...this would be a full black out, wide open investigation. This is propaganda folks.

If these were intended to detonate upon receipt of the package, there would be some kind of receiver or a switch attached. The pic could be shot from a distance but again with all the photo tech today grainy doesn't cut it anymore.

No sane person opens a bomb package, pulls out the explosive device, and turns it every-which-way for photographs unless they know for certain it’s a fake.

  Trust me, from someone who has experience with these things – allowing the complete package to be photographed is a dead giveaway this thing is phony. I won’t go into detail but no investigator worth his salt would allow a genuine IED that was STILL ACTIVE to be photographed. The closest you’ll come to that would be a copy of the X-ray image of the real thing – and those are also censored for obvious reasons.
