Is it normal for fired brass to have a small elongated ding in it on the shoulder area? Fired from a 20 inch a3 rile.

Just to be clear, is it the neck or shoulder? Spent casings will smack against the deflector on an AR and bend the mouth/neck or rim often times.

If you plan to keep and load your brass just put a piece of the felt from velcro on your deflector.

You may not care for your purposes, it is relevant if your looking for precision loads. depending the location and how dented it is.
