Not every one, emergency essential people still get to work and will just have to wait till the government opens up again to get paid.

The federal government "shutdown" will NOT effect our ability to keep you safe, or the installation secure. Fire & Emergency Services, snow removal & security operations will continue, uninterrupted.
There are many things you should know, as we continue to analyze how this will effect us all:
- All active duty personnel will continue to work and accrue pay, but will not be paid until appropriations are enacted.
- All civilians should report to duty as they normally would. At that time they will find out if they are furloughed as part of a "non-excepted" activity. If furloughed they will not accrue pay according to current guidance.
- Child & Youth Services operations WILL CONTINUE.
- DFACs will remain open.
- Gyms will remain open.
- Currently all medical and dental appointments will continue. This could change for routine appointments. Your best bet is to call ahead if you have concerns.
- All leave is cancelled for civilian employees.
- Almost all government travel will be delayed, cancelled or cut short.
- As of right now, the commissary will remain open.
- The PX, gas stations/mini marts, movie theatre and outdoor recreation services will stay open as they do not depend on appropriated funds for operations.
We will continue to update you as the full effects of the "shutdown" are realized. As always, your chain of command or supervisory chain remains your best source for information and guidance should you have specific-to-you or your family questions.

I believe Congress does get paid. I went through this before and it's not a big deal. (military) Most likely won't get my military retirement check but I'll survive if it goes on a long time, but I doubt it will make it into the next pay period. Gillibrand is noticeably quiet and shumeroid is in a corner now. We should all be calling his office and telling him/her what an @$$hole they are

I am with you. And the captain obvious worst part is that it is not the government's money, it is the tax dollars of people busting their ass day after day that bankrolls the progressive left snowballing handouts. I will never understand the hoops and bureaucracy most vets have to jump through to see some earned benefits compared the the almost concierge service for handouts.
