I just bought one in 22-250. Pretty pleased with what I see / feel. I've seen some nicer models out there but mine didnt run that much. My research on Howa was all positive. Guess cost is based on what you're getting and market value.

I have 2 Howa rifles a Varmint Supreme in 223 and a Axiom in 308 both are good shooters! As stated above they are made in Japan and imported by Legacy Sports

PT&G has Howa barreled actions for a silly cheap price, but caliber choices are limited.
Probably the most economical choice out there in a bolt gun, add a stock and you're still way ahead on cost.

That does it. I think it's time I ordered one. Leaning towards .308 over 6.5CM as I'll never really be able to run it out much past 700 or 800 yards.

So I read that, and then checked out Legacy Sports International's site.
They are doing package deals with a 4-16 Nikkon Diamond scope from $1500 to $1725? Is that a decent scope? Is that a good price for the whole shebang package?
How is the Howa rifle compared to tbe Bergera?

Pod, scope could use a better reticle and moa isn't a plus in my view, but a mil-dot works fine and the price overall is fairly good for a turnkey rifle. You could swap out the optic for one more suited to your tastes with mil turrets down the road. I'd imagine you can pick something up for a few hundred less than the $1500-$1700 with black friday around the corner.

Their site lists MSRP. Street value on the packages is running under that. IIRC, I saw a few packages in the 1200-1300 range.

Just saw that Savage is still running their $150 mail-in rebate for the 10BA Stealth which should bring it below $800. Add a decent scope for $400sh and you're climbing back into the Howa price territory.

Savage BA. I have the savage 10 fcp with a brake on it. i can shoot 1 inch groups all day with that POS accustock. toss a chassis on it and i can imagine it will shoot .75" atleast.

The bergara that is based on the trued and tested Remington 700 action gives a lot more
in a stronger action. Just look at the features they come with better than high end R700 actions.
Howas are not bad but not the best or stronger actions neither.
My first choice would be the Bergara B14 and then the sencond a Savage Precission Carbine. (not the XP predator that is a different setup).
Those are the best value out of the box right now IMHO.
The Tikka is also a safe bet. I just don't think it is the best deal nor better but they can shoot that is for sure.

I am a big fan of Howa, I own a couple of them. Zero issues.
