Yeah they lost about $2500 between you and me. Fine by me. I got it a bit cheaper anyway.

And the thing was, when speaking to them on the phone, they weren't nice about any of these issues either.

I give every call center employee great leeway, having been one. But you aren't going to out shit talk me.

I no longer will shop at buds. Any gun I've wanted shown on their site is generally out of stock, and the stupid stipulations when you're ready to checkout and order a handgun is annoying. There are a bunch of other places where ordering is simple, MUCH faster, and user friendly. I also don't like CDNNsports either after dealing with them.

Can you give an example of those stipulations, because I've probably had it too.

Also, the black Friday scam:

They had 2 guns on sale this past BF. A no name 9mm pistol for $99 (Sig copy, 15 rd mag, no bueno in NY) and a no name Rem copy for $49! I wanted that!

I stayed up all night for the sale at 5am. No big deal, I do that all the time and skim over the stuff that gets missed.

I clicked at exactly 5:00 AM (after realizing the sneaky bastards did NOT lower the price for the shotgun I wanted, but created a DIFFERENT, "Black Friday" listing for that same gun...very shady), and...server overload. Not unusual for BF. Happens all the time given the traffic. Refresh. Nothing. Refresh. Nothing. Refresh...I GOT THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!

In my cart it said "El no-name shotgun, qty. 1x$49 = $49."

I nearly crapped my pants.

So, I hit "GO TO CHECKOUT!"

Wait...wait...I'm IN! :O

And I see in my checkout page ...: The normal priced shotgun. $250.

Umm...no? I specifically clicked on the BF one you had listed (saw the regular priced one too), saw it in my cart, and you fuckers slid in the regular priced one!?

Just went to order 500 rounds of 38 special (extremely rare Speer Short barrel 135gr +P) and Buds calculated 275 lbs shipping cost $177. FUB!

If I possibly can I'll buy from my LGS so they stay in business. After Hillary lost the gun industry is retracting and there are going to be people going out of business. If you like having a selection of local gun shops then you need to support them, even though I know they don't always stock what you want and the ammo prices are sky high. I'll mail order bulk and gladly give then $10 to run it for me.

As for Bud's, they have stacks of boxed pistols in warehouses and they don't have a system that allows customization while maintaining rock bottom prices. Plus the cost of a single frivolous lawsuit from some crazy NY/CA/NJ/CT/MA anti-gunner destroys any possible profit they could make from selling to us.

The benefit of Bud's is kind of like the car shopping researching websites. Look at the Bud's cash price and that is going to be the bottom, with only a few exceptions, always within 2-3% of the lowest price anywhere. Then add cost of shipping and the transfer fee and comparison shop with a competitive LGS ~ often they are closer than you'd think.

Ever try your local gun shop? I will ship ANY NY compliant handgun to your dealer. If the gun is legal and the mags are not, I simply remove the magazines. Done it many times.

They have refused to ship ammo to Nassau County seemingly because they believed it to be part of NYC.

Problem here though is, as often, they won't even ship. Unless somehow the 1st FFL has a way to indicate that the receiver (me) won't be in NY. (wink wink)

I'm mixed on them. Got the VP 9 from then for a steal, but they're the ones who wouldn't sell me a PPQ .22 due to that idiotic melting point law which really only applies to the manufacture of guns in N.Y., not the sale of them. So,I just got it off of gunbroker for $9 more.

If you're looking to get the rock-bottom lowest price, don't expect quality service. If you buy shoes at Walmart, the clerk isn't going to help you try them on like they do at shoe stores. If you buy plumbing parts at Kmart, the clerk won't tell you how to fix your sink. Same with shopping at Buds. If you want service, shop local - but you might have to pay for the service.

I do know that, by his admission, he was willing to compromise his principals so he could get his trinket for a good price. I also know that he handled a problem with his credit card poorly. He didn't even say if the additional balance on his card was from Buds or not. But since Buds went all internet-slap-fight on him, they're the worst company ever.

If I bought something from a company that did me wrong, i would do exactly what this guy did. Isn't that what this thread is about? Someone bitched about on how they were treated.

Makes no difference where they ship from. No reason they cannot ship the pistol with it's original magazine to your FFL.
Your FFL just cannot transfer the gun to you with the magazine. You could let the FFL sell the magazine to someone who can legally own it, either in or out of NYS. He can ship it to someone out of NYS where it is legal to own. i.e. a relative or friend. there are options to ship the pistol and magazine together. Problem may be getting "Buds" to understand what the legal options are.

Also when that time comes, there is nothing in law that says you cannot drive out of state to buy it in person or order it online and have someone else ship it to you.

The law only pertains to sellers of ammunition and not the buyer.

One can argue that the law only pertains to those sellers of ammo under NY jurisdiction which makes online ordering from out of state always legal.

How can NY charge an ammo vender when they aren't even in the state?
