Oh, the pump taxes will only go up. They are never, and I mean never, going away. If you ever want to see how seriously pump taxes are taken, just put off highway diesel in your commercial vehicle. They don’t pick on gas powered vehicles because getting off highway gasoline isn’t really a thing.

disable speed sensor .. there goes the odometer reading ... plug it back in and reset ecm .. go get inspection .. ohhh you only drove 100 miles this year .. thank you for going greeen .. .. there are other ways to know how fast your driving

I mix kero in my diesel every winter to stop gelling. I also add 2 cycle oil to it all year to replace the lubricants they removed, just happens to be red. They'd have to send a sample to a lab if they want to prove I was running kero.
Because you need to stay warm. There's a tax for that ya know.

How about public parks. No more just walking in. Pay an entrance fee each time.
Sewer tax should be imposed as well. I'm sure there's people out there using it more than I am. Meter on the flush handle.

How about a mileage tax on Kamala? The VP is high mileage.
This is what happens when you push for electric cars and people using bicycles instead of SUVs, revenues go down because less fuel is being used. The greenies won’t like their hybrid or electric virtue signaling cars being taxed based upon how many miles they drive.

They record your mileage on your inspection and it gets reported to the state with your inspection report. You won’t be able to do any of the above. I agree. They do tax you on sewer and it is by usage at least in my town they do.
As for the parks I agree. My city is looking for money and we have the niagara River there. Thousands park there weekly when it’s nice out. If they charged $1 or $2 per visit it would make tons of money. City residents $10 per year old fold $5 per year or free if poor. It’s completely under developed down there and could make us a fortune, but it’s a park and they won’t do it.

As an EV owner I think it makes sense to move away from the model of taxing per gallon and moving it to per mile. Pursuant to above I do not expect that we will see taxes withdrawn from gas, as would be fair. Instead this will be a new tax, additional tax

Please correct me if I'm wrong: a fraction of the current Federal gasoline tax subsidizes mass transit. Perhaps it's time for the cities with mass transit systems to pay full fare?

what about states that don't require a vehicle inspection, Ohio for example.
and who collects the tax? the inspection station? what happens to full time RV'ers that travel tens of thousands of miles a year?

I didn't read it but won't a mileage tax just replace the "gas" tax once we are all cruising around in the battery operated toy cars of the future because gasoline will be illegal? Or will there also be an amp/hr. tax?

OTR trucks already pay a mileage tax, fuel tax, highway use tax, etc, etc, etc.....
