Buying a handgun from someone in NY but out of area

All of the handguns that I have bought were from dealers so this is a new senario for me.
So lets say that you find a little gem in the forsale section here and the seller is too far away to want to drive to.
How do you go about getting the gun after it has been paid for and the seller has recieved a bill of sale to remove it from thier permit,does the seller ship to a FFL who then transfers it to you after it is on your permit or do they "hold it" until it is on your permit?

In NYS the FFL holds it until you have the coupon and it's on your permit.

You buy it and the seller ships it from his FFL to yours. Your FFL will give you a receipt. You take that receipt to your pistol permit clerk in your county. You'll fill out an amendment form and await for a coupon to come in the mail. You get the coupon and you pick it up from the gunshop. That's it in a nutshell but some counties are slightly different.

The main thing is getting the receipt from your FFL after he receives the gun and then going to your county clerk or whoever is in charge of your pistol permit. After that, they'll bring you up to speed.

Have him ship it directly to your ffl.

He gets a receipt from your ffl to remove. You get a receipt to add.

Yeah shipping and transfer fees are usually $60-$75. That's why it's usually not worth buying a used gun anymore.

And all those asshole dealers that won't do a $10 transfer. WTF. I'm not talking to any of them anymore
