Thr problem is what to do with the bags after they are discarded.
Ewwww. Mine aren't the fabric kind that look like interfacing. They're definitely plastic-based, just much heavier. Got them at Weis in PA. Because they're plastic, I just wipe them out with some soapy water.I had a couple of real disappointing experiences with Supermarket $1 Bags (I'm not calling them "Re-Usable because I re-use Paper and Plastic Bags as well.)
Anyways, the Supermarket bags had Bottom Stiffeners, that could not be removed.
I washed them, and was rewarded with a huge soggy, lump of damp, disintegrated cardboard captured inside the bottom. Swell.
One over the head of every politician?Thr problem is what to do with the bags after they are discarded.

Ironically PLASTIC is the greenest choice.
And the Plastic Lumber Companies, such as TREX, can't get enough of them.

Just like Ethanol, which consumes more energy than it gives back when burned, the Plastic Bag Ban is a harmful scam supported by ignornant liberals.
SHIT, most Liberals don't even realize that their ELECTRIC CARS are actually Natural Gas or Oil vehicles.
Because that is what is burned to generate the electricity.
The reusable bags easily last 100+ times. The problem is remembering to take them to the store.
