.30-30 because the 350 Legend is just another obscure boutique round that ain't goin' anywhere.
And wouldn't the .35 Remington be the more relevant comparison?

The 350 legend is not as absurd as the blackout but it is an answer to a problem that doesn't exist.

As far as the articles go, anyone can call him or herself a firearms/ballistics writer and expert but most of them have very narrow view and limited knowledge aside from their technical writting capabilities that might even involve a lot of cut and paste and rewrite over.

I have seen articles trying to compare the blackout with the 7.62x39 and even the 30-30 and that is when you know the writer doesn't have a fucking clue about anything.

They willingly ignore the modern ammunition in classic cartridges likeba 160gr 7.62x39 or 160gr Hornady 30-30 with an sst bullet.

All a big pile or horse shit wrapped up in what it looks like a firearms magazine or website.

Isn't the .350 basically for straigh wall only states?

.30-30 is still one of the best recoil-power ratios there is. 170gr is a hard bullet to stop in the body of any deer.

After reading 2 sentences of the aforementioned "Caliber Warrior" article I got a big stench of horse manure.

The 30-30 still hits harder at 200 yards than the legend (or blackout) at 100 yards.

If you are going to write an article, then be honest and compare modern ammunition on one side with modern ammunition on
the other with comparable bullets grains and construction. not to mention not to ignore the fact that most bullets work so
much better withing the 2100-1900fps impact speed that is a terminal ballistics directive for bullets to function as efficient as possible as they are designed.
One can compensate with section and flat metplat even with solids but not enough to create as much displacemetn in the PWC until
you get to 400-500 bore with flat metplats.

Well, Winchester tried with the .32 Winchester Special. I'm inheriting my Dad's lever action, but am finding that when I actually CAN find ammo that it's limited in quantity, absurdly expensive, and offers no benefit over 30-30. Oh well, it's still a great rifle in pristine condition. I most certainly won't be running off to buy a .350.

The whole reason that 30-30 still exists like it does is due to center fire lever action rifles. The whole point to 350 legend is to allow people in states who wish to hunt with a rifle be able to do so when normal rifle cartridges (243, 270 and 308) are not allowed for hunting. If the laws were changed to allow the aforementioned cartridges to be used for hunting, and center fire lever actions ceased to be mainly offered in 30-30, then both cartridges would fade into obscurity.

Occasionally you find a deceit tech page or heartwarming story to throttle back the sales pitch, but in the end its all opinion designed to sound like fact.

The leyend actually makes more sense that the blackout.
The problem with straight wall cartridges and modern "sporting rifle" auto-loaders is that you are opening yourself to problems feeding and bullet seating problems and also limiting ballistics for no real good reason.
If your area allows straight wall cartriges vs. shotgun a quick barrel swap bolt action or even a traditonal lever action will be a much better choice to hunt with authority with something like a modern 444 marlin or a 45-70 with FTX bullets.
If you want a modern AR the 45 raptor is a very powerful and capable gun but otherwise and if one can hunt with a simple and popular bottleneck cartrige why complicate things and if you still want to stick to the AR15 or mini-30 just get this below and stop thinking how to reinvent the wheel in the year 2022....

A good many of the newest and best are reiterations of things that have already been done before.

I have no more hang-up on .300BLK than .30 Carbine, both work well to an extent, and if you have neither then it shouldn't be an issue.

30-30 is a great cartridge, chambered in a LOT of different Guns, been around since 1895 and where it once could be found in damn near any Store that sold ammunition, it's become very difficult to get and at ~$60. for a box of 20 it's more than what people were paying for .300 Winchester Magnum! A decade ago we were having a great Primer drought along with a sudden "shortage" of .22LR where the price of a Brick went from $20. to $60 and at the same time the venerable 30-30 also became unobtanium....many learned their lesson vowing "never again" and now those late to the Party are finding out the hard way.
Speaking of ammo prices; why is it a Box of 7mm Remington Magnum is half the typical price of a box of .300WM? They're very close to the same cartridge in every respect?
Use what you have, become proficient with it, and suddenly you'll find you don't really need anything else.

Yes, uppers are available in .350 Legend, and I believe the cartridge was developed for the MSR (AR-15) Platform.
Magazines: There IS a different Magazine for the Legend, there are indentations on the side wall of a regular 5.56 magazine that WILL HINDER loading more than one round in them (they're cartridge guides) The .350 Legend Magazine fits MSR's and Ruger American Bolt Action Rifles interchangeably, Dura-Mag makes them, and they retail just below $20.
We've sold a dozen or so .350's over the last two years, mostly people of smaller stature, or more sensitive to noise and recoil....it's very pleasant to shoot and ammunition (being what it is and how things are currently) is inexpensive and (at the time) was readily available in two loads: a 150gr Ball type load and a 180gr. Hunting Round.
If one decides to reload, you have to remember its a .355 diameter (9mm) NOT .357 or .358

I have a .450 bushmaster. Had tons of issues with mags and loading. Just a pain in an AR. It's actually to destructive on deer for me so it's kind of a waste. After having almost every caliber out in the deer woods I've toned down alot. I've found a well placed hit with about any caliber performs better than a poor hit with a more powerful round. 12 ga slugs carry about as much energy as you can get and a shot to the stomach isn't even close to as deadly as a .22 thru both lungs. So like was said, these straight wall cartridges are only good for states that allow them and if they didn't put creedmore or blackout or some other cool name they would all be unknown calibers. Blackouts are only good thru a suppressor. There is no advantage other than that.

same argument different day. 30-06 v 308, 9mm v 45, 223 v7.62x39 etc.

The answer to all these questions is : shoot what does the job in a caliber and platform you like. I have a shit ton of calibers in a lot of different and the same platforms. I do like the 300 blackout for fun stuff out to 300 yards. I like the 17 WSM out to 200 yards. I like the 7.62x51 out of a machine gun out to 1100 meters. I like my 30-06 for bench rest but I like my 6.5 CM for the same thing. I like the 224 Valkyrie for everything I like my 223 for in any platform. I like the 9mm out of a 1911 out to 75 yards and I like the 45 ACP in a 1911 for self defense.

do you have to like what I do? Nope
do I have to care what you think of what I like and why? Nope
diversity in caliber and gun options is a great thing, and if you don’t like it: then, have a nice life.

the 350 looks interesting and it is a cheaper option than buying a whole new gun for those who have an AR already. My advice for those looking at it: go for it, have fun, and tell anyone who doesn’t like it to F off….
