Want I really want to know is what are the differences and similarities of the USP, P2000, and P30? And is the VP9 essentially a striker fired version of the P30 ala Sig P250/P320?

I only speak of the VP9. Basically yes, striker version of the 30. I love mine. It has turned out to be one of my favorite pistols to shoot.

Actually Solid Snake used this in MGS 1 and 2:

A .45 ACP Mk 23. a thoroughly ridiculous gun in that it is the size and near the same weight as a Dessert Eagle. Snake would have been better off with a USP. But he then switched to this as his signature sidearm in MGS4:

Darth's comment is interesting though in that I too have more interest in the older USP design as well. I can only assume it is due to the Metal Gear series connection, but it does lead me to wonder if the older design has any advantages over the newer ones? Its kinda moot though since I guess since if I get another hammer fired gun it'll be a CZ. I have this weird hang up in my head that if your gonna go with a polymer gun it may as well be striker fired. I have no logical explanation for this other than I perceive hammer guns as old school and thus as all metal as well, and striker guns as more modern and thus polymer despite the existence of fine polymer hammer guns such as the H&Ks and CZs P07 and P09. Perhaps this is why I have been curious about the H&Ks, a desire to explore this seeming juxtaposition combined with the H&K mystique. I seriously doubt it will be enough for me to overcome the $700+ price tag though. Maybe if I can find one as a range rental...

Trust me, I've taken it off Olga enough times. Note no threaded barrel of the Mk.


Even on European Extreme. Climb the Conn tower and you get the suppressor on some difficulties too.

Definitely love my P30. Feels great in the hand, smooth action, great grips, etc. Definitely expensive, but worth it, imo.

HK VP9 Torture Test

I'm not sure what the exact standards are for torture tests, but the VP9 failed this one miserably. Multiple failures under a water, sand, and concussion test. Broke parts of it off, nicks/chips/scrapes, reset failures, etc. Definitely did not hold up

I have a HK 45C personally, love it and got a great deal on it. It's probably the only HK I will own. Shoots fantastic, handles great, but not really sure if I would have been happy if I bought it at retail pricing.

You are correct, all series have full size models. USP have compacts only unlike the p30 & p2sk lines that offer sub compact.
