I am fucking DONE with this goddamn govt!! They can fuck off and get the fuck OUT of America!! Where the fuck is our military?? Oh .. nevermind .. that's a group of fucktards that are waiting to get their sex change operations and have lost ALL respect I once had for them!!! So ... this new car tax and gas tax on shit we already PAID tax on is over the top!! They are FORCING you to buy electric cars!! It is in in the "infrastructure bill" which will be passed in the next couple of days. I am SO done with ALL democraps and ALL govt!! They have severely crossed the line!!! Americans are the laughing stock of the world right now and we should be fucking ashamed of ourselves allowing 535 people to control us like they are. I for one will no longer take it sitting down.

Great so I for instance would be penalized cuz I (have) to work 1 hr away from my house as it was the place I got hired when thre was nothing available in my area at the time 6 years ago...HJEEZ. My insurance company already tries to nail me for it by requesting my mileage each year...I dont give them $HIT!! my policy does not state I agree to give you my mileage each year..... Just finding a way for screwing you for thinking Independantly and being forced to try to come around to their ways of thinking....besides...I am supposed to buy an electric car to not be reliant of the fossil fuels used when I buy gas but Im gonna plug into an outlet thats powered by pretty much the same dinasour bones.....POINTLESS!!!!!
FInd me a car that runs of Gubmnt Promises and I can drive forever!!!!!!

what about people living in RV's full time? How would that be taxed/regulated?

When you register your vehicle or when it is inspected. Millage would get sent in with all the other information.... State compares it to last years figure.. Sends the data to the big man for his cut. Could even show up on your income tax schedule. Commercial trucks pay road taxes out the ass already.... They have had that collection system down pat for decades...

Ever register a vehicle or had one inspected? Let me know when you realize the mileage has been entered. How can they do this every year? I don't know ... how long does an inspection last in communist NY??

many states do not require a annual inspection, South Dakoda for example. and once its registered? you don't have to give THEM any more information when you re-register.

maybe its time to MOVE!!!

Could have a federal registration start,,, After all if they could nick you for a few thousand/year /car .. What is an extra form on your income tax. If a business can deduct mileage currently .. then it is simple to charge folks for the same thing. . Keep in mind .. The goal is to destroy the oil industry.. One will tax gas and diesel powered autos to destroy that industry... Think back to tobacco ... Mega bucks in taxes. They destroyed most of the tobacco farms . 25 -50 years ago one could make a good living off of 25 acres . Most of the people are on welfare today . Kids vote democrat ..
Mission accomplished . Just who will this tax hurt the most.. Folks in rural states. Like S Dakota. . Many places it is a 2 hour drive just to get to a Walmart ... Could cost them an extra 15-20/trip with the tax.. Now they get a 2 fer... attack rural Trump voters (and states ) and fund that new green deal.. Life is sweet to be a liberal..

Flipping through the satellite radio this morning, a guest said these assholes plan on having each car taxed at a base 12,000 miles per year and the burden is on the taxpayer to show if it is less when taxes are filed and to adjust it higher if otherwise.

In CA revenue is reportedly down on gas tax due in part to both higher milage cars and electric motored cars. The milage tax takes away an electric vehicles free ride on missing the gas tax burden, but watch them also bury more taxes on everyone's electric bills too.

Meeh whatever. I can with a few button clicks make the odometer on my vehicle say whatever the fuck I want it to. 159 miles a year? Yep, thats what I drove.
They have no clue how they will implement this damn thing. I have heard everything from self reporting to mandatory phone apps to OBD2/GPS devices. Aftermarket device or a government app? Sure, No one would be able to figure out how to turn that off... People are up in arms over covid passports, you think they are going to allow the gov into their phone or car, even though we all know they are in there already lol

Sure when you bought it but you can’t go back 3.5 or 8 years ago in my case and tax me prior to this being a law right?
They will do it in NYS off the annual inspection and in states that don’t have it you will need to go somewhere to have it reported for tax time I’m guessing. DOT site or DMV, maybe designated mechanics.

I’m only speaking for myself but this will not be a big impact on me and it will do zero to force me to buy an EV. I have a work vehicle and my wife works from home. We drive very little. The biggest factor will be is it cheaper for me to avoid tolls now or pay them and that’s about it.
The thing that will piss me off is I will be doubled taxes essentially as mentioned above. I hate EV’s and what they stand for so I will be a hold out.
