Still listening to the interview. She has built her career by putting herself in similar places with no back-up. She knew what she was getting herself into (potentially) and chose to take the risk.

Listen to the interview. She got evacuated just before Mubarak was ousted. She chose to go back to cover the transion. If she didn't report for CBS, she would have covered it for someone else.
The whole interview is about 3.5 hours long. The last hour to hour and a half covers the Egypt and political stuff. It was very interesting.
