But I can find many names of high school and college friends on "The Wall" - they gave all...and for what?

Overall, IMHO, WWII was the only "necessary" war...Vietnam and the Middle East stuff seems like we were sold a bill of goods from the "elites". We paid, somehow, but they never seem to.

And I'm having second thoughts about WWII once in a while.

At my age, I'm on the downside of life and thought maybe I'd be able to just live out the rest of my days in relative freedom. That doesn't look like it's going to happen now.

I joined the Army at 30 years old......after 10 years of university. I was ready to start my life when 9/11 happened......I was in NJ just across the river and watched it happen. A good friend died that day (Amy King) she was a flight attendant on the second plane.
Unlike many others I wasnt a gung ho " gonna go get revenge" guy, I was about to start my career.....but thought about the escalating tensions in the ME and thought about how easily young Americans were being radicalized by middle eastern terrorists.
So, I said fuck it, lets go kick some ass.
My family was appalled!! I just finished grad school and an internship in CA.
Long story short......I called a recruiter, planned a meeting and said I wanted to get to action ASAP. He said "OK" and a short time later I was 11 Bravo headed for Afghanistan...... Well, thats the short of it :)
I would NOT even consider doing that today. I lost several friends and 1 friend I thought just may be my best friend after service.
I still love my country, I just dont care as much about the citizens.

Oh well... Then that's a situation for you to work out. It's here all right, and just because one group doesn't knee jerk react to everything that really isn't anything... Doesn't mean anyone shod interpret it's calm demeanor with acceptance should the Gov't go rogue!

Current contemporary social issues abound, but may not be entirely the necessary ingredients for what you're thinking about. History has shown the way and what forces come into play in order for the citizenry to fight back. It hasn't happened here by a long shot, and is entirely why they whittle away at it, one little nick at a time! And quite frankly... The recent episode in D.C. has scared the socks off many of those cheap suit politicans for sure ... See NG at Biden's swear in...

Anyways, I disagree with your assessment that the gun loving Constitutionalists here in this country be dismissed because they aren't koolaid drinkers who need to march and shout in streets while looting and burning, stealing, robbing, etc.

We are here, and we all know what's real, and what's not. If and when that Gov't we have volunteered to submit to in the experiment, fails... We will still be here and ready!

Not a bad thing for the CCP to claim since anybody with a triple digit IQ will see this as a ringing endorsement for the private ownership of arms.
As for the double digit midgets........... well they were a lost cause to begin with.
