CCW permits for military

Hello. I'm 20 years old and I'm in the NY Army National Guard. From what I've read, I still will not be able to get a concealed carry permit until I turn 21 (despite being issued and trained to fire one by the army). My question is, will it be easier to get a permit due to the fact that I'm in the Guard? Also I'm in Albany County (which I've heard is one of the worst). Any info would be great! I'm just trying to see if anyone has heard that being in the military take away any of the headache if getting a CCW permit. Thanks.

If you are under 21 and have been honorably discharged by the military, you can apply for a pistol permit.

I did years in the Army but got no special treatment when applying. There is nothing about this in the law, but the deciding judge may take it into consideration.
Its 100% up to the judge.

Will do. I do have a dd214 that States I was honorably discharged from active service (since Guard and Reserve soldiers are on active duty for initial entry training) but I'm currently on drilling status so it will be worth looking into. Thanks for your replies.

The NYS law says he/she can apply
but in NYS the judge can deny because they personally believe 20 is too young.

In my county they won't even let you pick up the application if you are not 21

  A person, who is not a resident of New York State but has his/her principal place of business in the State, may apply for a Possess on Premises License within the business’ jurisdiction.
  
  A person under 21 who has been honorably discharged from military service is eligible to apply for a firearms license.
  
  
• Must be 21 years old
• Have no prior felony or serious offense convictions
• Be of good moral character
• Have a legally recognized reason for wanting to possess or carry a firearm
• Be ready to open the business for which the license is being applied

There are alot of people that believe MOST service members have PTSD and anxiety issues.

Hell, you will likely hit your 22nd b-day before your application is processed.

Now, if you go to your local PPO, and ask for an application, and they tell you that you cannot apply before your 21st b-day, show them a copy of the NY law that you bring with you that details that honorably discharged vets ARE legally allowed to have a permit in New Yorkistan...
