Chris Collins is taking TREMENDOUS heat over his support of Ryancare, especially after admitting on national TV that he voted for the bill w/o actually reading the thing.
Now he's coming to draw "support water from the well" with his wishy washy pro-gun stance.
Don't buy the hype. The bill is DOA if it ever gets introduced in the 1st place.

A recent development happened after last night's Erie County SCOPE meeting. Rep. Collins has expressed a willingness to move the Second Amendment Guarantee Act (SAGA) proposed by SCOPE forward to enactment. Please make calls to his office at 716-634-2324 (Buffalo) and 202-225-5265 (Washington, D.C.) Ask for his support, and tell him that we, in turn, will support him.Call Monday June 19,2017
SAGA would be a Federal Law that would use the due process clause of the of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to repeal the unconstitutional SAFE Act.
We must take this direction to destroy Cuomo's SAFE Act. The New York State Legislature is too corrupt to accomplish repeal.

don't get your hopes up too high, I don't think they will ever get rid of the Safe crapt.... its like a spider web of laws at this point....Vote with your feet and move to a free state...much easier...

its good you called, but nothing will happen. Under the current political climate,all the liberals here in nY, nothing positive will happen reguarding firearms,knives,swords,etc......I have been hearing its going to get better here since 1990, when you were still believe it or not,allowed to have an assault style weapon in the 5 boroughs!! Well, I can tell you from experience,its not going to get better.. so you can say whatever you like, but I am correct and will remain correct. This state is never going to change,nor will it ever be conservative controlled ever again... I don't like just as much as you. I just face it.......If I am wrong, you can send me a million messages and I will gladly eat all of my words......

NYS is a TOUGH battle. Tougher than the presidential election because we have no gubernatorial electoral college. However, giving up is just NOT AN OPTION. Can we win? Probably not. But the same thing was said 11/7/16.

Not sure you meant to compare it to the lotto, but perhaps. You know the lotto is a fool's game, right; statistically it's a proven poor use of time. If that's how you see repealing safe, we're on the same page; safe isn't going anywhere. If the same kind of mindset that compels people to play the lotto is the only one that makes spending time repealing safe seem worthwhile, surely now you can understand why so many people see it as a lost cause.

jesus, I can't believe the attitude of some of the people on here. calling your congressman doesn't cost money or hours out of your day.
I get that it is an uphill battle but it is still better than not even trying anything and hoping for a better NY.

I complain plenty, also called and so far, had 4 others confirmed call... I just don't know what to believe anymore when so much on both sides is political sensationalism. I also go to ALL rally's, upstate at the capital, its funny though, most of the biggest mouths on these forums never show up. or they are shy, I hold up signs with forum name, had 1 guy from the former popular forum there... that's what's sad. we can talk all we want, the action is what counts.....

My 2 cents is if people showed up in reasonable numbers,at every event the furher is at in NY State....sooner or later the media will get "it" and report it. This would work against the furhers national image in his quest for President. He would have to re-think the crap act.It won't happen overnight(for all you instant reaction people) but would work eventually. SCOPE and GAO have delegates in every County and if they would use their meeting minutes(monthly/quarterly letters) to organize the people...it could be done. Obviously day workers can't participate in day rallies...same with other shifts,but day workers can support night rallies and vice versa for others. Retired can support most any. We talk...complain...do nothing....oh...I called Collins local and Washington also. I told him I support his option to carry BUT all carry permit holders must not be restricted in gun free zones. Also our lives are as important in another State as in NY. These were just part of my conversation

I agree. I would love to be able to attend all rallies, town hall or any other meetings but it is not feasible to do. Especially when the rally is a 3+ hour drive away. I try to contribute the best I can. I just hate the fact that people are thumbing their nose at people doing what they can to fight this.

If every county organized....the drive would be less than 3 hours...and with a lot of participants, not all go to every one would work. Retired people would most likely be counted on the most. It could be organized like a fishing/hunting/car clubs/ whatever. Meetings could be had. People could write letters to the open columns in the papers...get on morning talk shows like our local station 930.(Sandy Beach,Tom Baurerle) Let local politicians know what we DEMAND or NO vote. The potential is there.

that's my point. I'm tired of loosing, I'm voting with my feet and moving in a few years after wife retires. I want to enjoy instead of complaining, court dates,loosing more rights, etc....This is one of the worst states in country for freedom if not the worst. I have done the ralleys, written senators, begged Skelos not to go thru with safe act,letters,phone calls etc..... fighting it is good, yes, but I just don't see any new freedoms being allowed here when it comes to firearms...

If you don't want to fight any more, I totally understand. It sounds like you put in a lot of effort already and I can see how it is discouraging to not get any results. just don't discourage others that are still willing to fight.

I called as well. The DC office reported having "several" calls as of Monday afternoon, hopefully a lot more since then. I explained I do not live in Rep. Collins' district, but as a fellow NYer if he was willing to introduce the bill and get it moving, I'd donate to his reelection campaign. We shall see...
I called his offices here and in DC, and passed along my concerns, as one of his constituents, and a fellow CCW holder.
And for what it's worth, maybe he'll notice that in the Buffalo News article about him carrying, that a good number of people stood up for him against the usual trolls over his firearm stance in the comment section.
