With some recent fraudulent activity on my CitiCard I want to make sure these monkeys get it all worked out and verified before I give them the final heave ho. I will be looking for another bank to work with and will make sure II understand their policies BEFORE I commit to working with them. Time to start doing what needs to be done. Below is what I've drafted for them.

Good morning Citibank customer service. Thank you very much for your recent attention to the fraudulent charges I received on my credit card in the month of March 2018. It's truly disturbing to see how easy it is for criminals to obtain a card holders account information and make charges of thousands of dollars, and more than likely "get away" with it. I feel those convicted of crimes like these should face some of the highest penalties available by law as it costs our country billions each year. Your customer support staff did a fine job alerting me to the problem, and ultimately handling the situation for me and my family. My letter to your department is twofold, one being the accolades I wanted to bestow upon your staff, and two would be to permanently close my account. Perhaps I can clarify this for you.
It has come to my attention that your organization has decided to jump on the "bandwagon" with other businesses and financial institutions to place terms and restrictions on firearms retailers, and in turn, on legal firearms purchasers as well. There are already laws and systems in place to address the issues of which you appear to be concerned. Our state and federal governments have already created a myriad of rules, regulations, and restrictions on gun ownership and I'm certain that will only increase.
While I understand Citigroup is not a governmental institution bound by laws of our country and states, I will not support a company who picks and chooses which tragedies it decides to address. What is Citigroups stand on the sale and production of alcohol? Alcohol and its effects have ruined and taken more lives in one year than all the gun related deaths combined, men, women AND children. Where is your stand on tobacco? Same as alcohol? Is Citibank going to systematically decide what its customers can and cannot purchase? Will I one day walk into a liquor & wine store for a bottle of fine wine for a casual dinner with friends only to find that my credit card will not work because it's issuer has decided this purchase isn't "good for me"? Will Citigroup start looking at where gun owners are purchasing everyday items like groceries, gas, and day to day products and stop allowing its cards to be used there and start punishing them as well? Where does it end? You may say my analogies are far fetched but I honestly never thought I'd be sitting here writing this letter today.
In an e-mailed statement Citi said it will require those clients only sell firearms to customers who have passed a background check, restrict sales of firearms for people under 21 years of age, and not sell so-called “bump stocks” or high-capacity magazines.
In addition to the policy for new clients, Citi said it is starting talks with current clients on their practices and if they do not adopt changes the bank will help “transition their business away from Citi.”
In the e-mailed statement Citigroup CEO Michael Corbat said its new policy “was designed to respect the rights of responsible gun owners while helping to keep firearms out of the wrong hands.”
I am not attempting to lessen the horror and tragedy of past and more recent shooting events at schools, public venues, and private homes. As a firearm owner, I truly wish any firearm deaths could be eliminated completely, but I'm also an adult, a realist, and intelligent enough to know this will never be the case. It is the understanding of myself, and a great number of pro second amendment supporters and patriots, that your company and many others are acting on the emotional responses of a group of people who have not yet completely defined their goals, or completely understand what the repercussions of what they ask will be for our future. This is not a safe business practice and I cannot condone these actions by supporting your business as a customer. I have been a card holder for more than two decades with Citigroup. In this day and age, how many of your cardholders have been your loyal customers for that long? I am a law abiding citizen who has owned and used a number of firearms since I was a you child. I went to college, work, and pay taxes every year. I have never been arrested and have little contact with law enforcement beyond a traffic stop.
I will not get into a debate with you on neither the need for me to own firearms or the intent and validity of the second amendment. That is a whole separate discussion, which I'm honestly tired of listening to. This is about where I spend my money and who I do business with. I still have the choice in that matter, at least for now.
Enclosed you will find my most recent Citibank credit card (which you just recently express mailed to my home), cut in multiple pieces as a security measure. I would appreciate it if you would be kind enough to dispose of it for me. I sincerely hope that you will take a step back and reconsider business decisions such as these. While I hope you will, the realist in me tells me that the impact of myself, and the others who will most surely follow my lead, will not have enough impact on your business model and we will be cast aside by your group, just as we have by the fellow Americans whose rights we respect and defend. Very good point. Not many of us are wealthy enough that we can direct exactly where our funds are invested. If I had a Citibank card, I'd cut it up, though.
