So how does one fight this time? There is no "Mason Dixon Line", which in hindsight, I wish the South won! It will be neighbor to neighbor at this point.
I seriously think there needs to be a military coup, to put Trump in office, as the end all.

As Shelby Foote noted in Ken Burns' civil war documentary, the conflict between the states that we refer to as The Civil War (1860-1865) - that war created a nation in which a conflict such as that is, today, inconceivable. We will never have another civil war like the first one (although the Revolution was a civil war to some extent, making the Civil War the second one in actuality.)

If you are interested in seeing what an American de-evolution into violence will look like, see any major riot in America over the past almost 250 years. That is actually more in character for us than the blue and gray were.

Study in particular the draft riots in NYC in 1863 (Civil War troops actually had to be called on their way home to help) the race riots of the 1960s, Rodney King, George Floyd, etc.

In order to destroy a perceived enemy that is at home and up close, the American character requires a cause that effects the people personally. Be it fear of being drafted, racial inequality, or what they perceive as police brutality, they need to be personal issues.

And the destruction will be local. It may be widespread, but the participants will lash out on whatever is physically closest to them.

There are many entities that wish for another full-blown civil war here in America, many nations, and not too few of our own in leadership positions, many of whom would love to swoop in and crush our rights.

But they have it wrong.

Entirely wrong.

Most Americans, the ones that actually could participate in a good, old fashioned Civil War - training, equipment, etc. - they will be the ones who, quietly and peacefully stand fast and keep the rest of the nation functioning as the centers of violence implode.

Initially, at least, you'll see one side go absolutely ape-shit, burning their own neighborhoods to the ground and trying to get as much "free shit" as possible, while the other side is quietly and methodically targeting those they believe were the cause of the downfall.
I would not want to be a politician during that time period. Specifically not one who had been advocating for mass unregulated immigration, massive subsidies of non-working individuals, and graft.

Eventually the ape-shits will try to organize, but by then it will be too late.

Civil unrest, rioting and the lot, is not to be confused with a "Civil" war...

The Civil War we had here wasn't all about slavery as it would be made. It was considered by the one side "Northern Aggression" to enforce power by one side over the other. Political Will which once refused led to armed conflict, and the individual chosing to get involved to protect their own home(s) and land...

Thinking the foot soldier was involved in politics or whatnot is ridiculous... It was about an evil entity invading by force and wanting to institute control.

What could be more different today?

Are not contemporary issues providing contrast betweens States ideologies? Have some expressed their disdain for the heavy Federal Govt wanting to enforce control over their sovereign rights? The undercurrent is there... Certainly today, and building.

But historically, civil war usually has occured once all power has been removed from one side... When those aligned with the losing side have lost all and see no future ahead. Left with little choice, they fight back. We aren't talking about taking away Sunday dinner, or TV... And there's a difference! Question is...

If the election appears to be a sham... Will States react? Not individuals, not organizations, but States! Would they chose to make a statement and take a stand that they would remove themselves from the Union of States?

Remember, there is nothing in our Constitution or other laws which paint the path for separation, only how to join the Union... And Texas's argument in the 1880's was shot down (pun intended) by the SCOTUS back then... Basically saying what I laid out above.

A real civil war vs the collective States that would seek to separate would be interesting... It would require those states to have industrial capability, financial reserves and at least at some level, foreign support because once the bullets fly, they'll need it!

Are we there yet? Anywhere near?

IMO not a snowballs chance in hell are we anywhere near the simmering pit that would be needed waiting for a spark to ignite such a thing... All the powers that be are busy infighting right now and politicians are mostly engaged with self preservation the minute they get elected... There's not many who outwardly project to be genuinely concerned about their constituents, or their lives, or their State's Sovereignty!!!

Just thoughts...

I’m not even sure how to respond to this. OP wants a military coup to install a leader/dictator in the USA? That sounds like something I’d be willing to fight against not for. The constitution has served this county well for many years and there’s nothing in there about that. The problem is we are getting away from the constitution and no one is fighting to get back there. Yea there are plenty of other problems and I think Trump is the better candidate but he’s an egotistical nut and doesn’t need endless power or time in office to get worse.

I keep hearing more and more about this summer might be worse than summer of 2020 with the pandemic with people going all out loony.

Heck, look at what a few feet of snow did to folks out my way here in Buffalo region -- looting stores, shootings, etc. Over a few feet of snow. :idk:

People also seem more off than usual too. Like they can't be trusted.

Constitution is under attack! Once the '20 election was stolen , all gloves are off. It will be solen once again this year! Yes, IMO the only way to get this country back on track, is to have a coup and put Trump where he rightfully belongs.
The line has been crossed, the empire is falling and harsh maneuvers are paramount!

ok, all of our troops in all the arms of our military, have to unite w/ all the police forces in the country. Then advance on DC and do what needs to be done. It's that simple. This country is collapsing, I'm turning 54 and I don't recognize it anymore, I didn't grow up in this horror. Yes, it started in the 60s w/ the hippies about Nam and then rotten women's lib (another travesty), but it wasn't accepted as mainstream, like all of the horrors of today.

Can you provide any examples of our military to fire on civilians? Can you provide any examples of our police refusing to enforce laws unless ordered not to by their leaders?
