Dam, for a gun crowd, a lot of "nervous nellies" here! Yes, I am FBI, Full Blooded Italian! To each his own, but history "always" repeats itself. For one to think that a civil war will not happen again, is very naive. We are so politically divided and this point, that for the first time in my life, I haven't seen any rotten left wing bumper stickers. Think about it, have you guys? I live in a very liberal county and town, where I have seen countless Obama, Hillary, Biden, etc. bumper stickers, during election years. I haven't seen one Biden sticker, which is actually refreshing, but a sign of the times.....

This. Look at most sub Saharan Africa conflicts over the last 40 years also. Many of the Central American conflicts as well. If we should reach a point where this occurs it won't be a North v South, Red State v Blue State, or even a State v State conflict. Battle lines will be drawn across several factors, probably starting with conservative v liberal, then add rome racial divisions, religious/morality differences, economic/class, and so forth. This event will truly be neighbor against neighbor. When you look at the past conflicts mentioned above, they had some overtones of some of these divisions, but not to the scale and breadth that an enormous nation like the US has. Tribal war is the ugliest type of war, and look at how tribally we the US are divided and that will give you a scope of how fucked this could become. Look at this forum, where we all have ostensibly the same goals and interests in preserving our 2A rights and shooting guns. Fuckers on here regularly get at each others throats over minute disagreements. Wait 'till the big issues that tear the fabric of the Republic come into play.

We've had many many discussions about it (all purely hypothetical for entertainment purposes of course) over the years.
For every serious thing that should be discussed, there is an equal amount of discussions that need to be exposed for their absurdity. The only way to counter outlandishly absurd topics is to let them die in the light.

What I see happening if the absolute worst happened. The military will go one of two ways. 1) Desertion rate cripples most units and they fall back to guarding their own. or 2) the military moves to secure critical infrastructure and protect it until the civilian government is restored.
The police will do the same either fall apart and guard their own or guard critical infrastructure until order is restored.
The most likely situation for the public is general lawlessness and the population is on their own.

I mistakenly forgot to add "refused" in this line "Can you provide any examples of our military to fire on civilians?" I agree with you 100%. Our military has never refused to fire on civilians. From strike breaking to The Bonus March, where 2 American heroes, MacArthur and Patton attacked unarmed civilians, killing 3 people, to forcing desegregation of schools at bayonet point to being used to fight rioters in the 1960's to Hurricane Katrina. Anyone who believes the military won't continue to follow orders is a fool.

Yes I see left wing signs daily especially LGBTQ things. Flags, bumper stickers all sorts of things. Yea Ive seen Biden Harris signs too. I see plenty of pro abortion signs too. No one is denying the potential for a civil war but you being a nut job saying we should do a military coup to install Trump as supreme leader is a bit much. Good luck.

The military in general might refuse.
But there will always be enough who will follow the orders, and they will always end up being in the right place at the right time.
There were very few Germans who would have been willing to send the Jews to the showers, or turn on the gas. But, the majority of them were willing to arrest people for harboring them and send the Jews to the camps.
You only need a few to kick in the doors. The rest will then rally around "their comrades" when the people behind those doors shoot back.
Just look at how it goes now with bad cops. There are a small minority of scumbags who revel in abusing civilians, but the rest always rally to their defense when they are accused of it.
