Cleaning up stainless...

Bought a used S & W 64 a while back, had a few very minor marks, from regular usage, nothing really bad, a knowledgeable friend said to try cleaning up the minor scratches with this. Works wonders, no polish needed, -- very mildly abrasive, just one step up from jewlers rouge. -- I don't think I woud use it on a blued gun though.

Scotch Brite is good. add a small amount of oil and use light pressure. continuously. Be very gentle with it. It will work but even Scotch Brite can be harsh on finishes.

Just after pics - no before -- the bright spots you see are reflections, - not striations. Used lightly - no oil or lube used.
There was great improvement.

The stuff you are using is a bit too aggressive IMHO. Try Flitz metal polish with a soft cloth first.

Bought a really nice leather holster from Ritchie Leathers in Amherst NY. Small shop - greta quality work, talked to them personally, hell - I even got invited for a shop tour whenever I'm in the area. See if I can find a pic, I may have one.

S & W 64 in Med. brown -- Glock 42 I bought for my son's birthdta in black. Excellent holsters. Will do business there again.

Nice holsters. I've been looking for one for my revolver.

Scotch Brite and WD40 work great for cleaning metal. I had to polish the surface of three 32" long 8" diameter rolled aluminum tubes last week. Only after I was finished was I told the customer wanted them powder coated.
