Collins to unveil federal bill that he says would repeal NY’s SAFE Act | Orleans Hub
Not much said about it.
Not much said about it.
We need something at the Federal level. The State is a lost cause.
So, they're not perfect, so fuck him ?And I'm sorry this is all probably political to try and look so pro 2A.
Where was this type of work in the last 4 years since the safe act was passed.
Or even better yet, where was all this "im so pro 2A for new york" between 2004 and 2013 when there was the modified Clinton assault weapons ban. (Oh cool some shit was grandfathered in so meh we as new Yorkers will just deal with it, but oh no now we can't have our grandfathered stuff or rifles set up kinda how we want them so now let's pretend we have been fed up)
Oh or even better where were then they for New York's ban on NFA items and the Sullivan Act. That's been on the books since 1911, but haven't heard of any of them trying to get that off the books
So, they're not perfect, so fuck him ?
We need to support every ally, not just the "perfect" ones.
I'll take some pro 2A grandstanding, even if they dont make any progress. In the very least, it sends the message that pro 2A is a good thing.I'm not saying fuck him, I'm pointing out this is something that isn't going to go anywhere other than a oh hey look at me i love the 2a so vote for me.
There are 5 month left in the year and he is just now going to try and introduce a bill that is (as I've read it would be amazing if passed) so over the top he knows it won't go anywhere but can be used for when he's out stumping to try and get gun votes

EVEN IF IT IS just grandstanding, it is the kind of grandstanding we need.
The only legislation they need is a budget appropriation for the DOJ to establish an office SPECIFICALLY to go after states who violate the 2A IMHO....."To amend title 18, United States Code, to limit the authority of States
and localities to regulate conduct, or impose penalties or taxes, in relation
to rifles or shotguns."
That's it?
What about the penalties and taxes, AND FEES, I have to pay to own a pistol in New York? What about the infringements and burdens I have to go through to get something I can use to protect myself and my family when I am not in my home?
This is primarily written to protect the right to own ARs, based on the way it is written. it may also have an effect in stopping the ban of standard capacity magazines.
it's a good start, i guess, but doesn't go far enough to rein in the oppression and tyranny we are forced to endure here in New York.
We need something at the Federal level. The State is a lost cause.
That's why we keep losing. We want to swallow the whole elephant in one gulp.A daunting task, taking on those that thwart the constitution. Like they say when faced with eating the elephant, start with one bite at a time.

He is in the right position to Put things in motionInventive.....
I do have to give him credit though. He'll do more in two public forums than Tom King and the NRA/NYSRPA have done in 4 years.
Chew on that for a second or two....
They must have been reading our forums and decided to run with this paper tiger to appease the gullible here in NY by specifically quoting the Unsafe Act in this fruitless bill that they know will never pass. They may be able to fool some of you. Not me.
SCOPE Erie County, Monday press conference
I'm looking forward to encountering protesters. This was out last week. Hopefully see some of you there.
If Collins thinks constituents don't give a shit, how do you want him to respond? Stand together or perish one by one.
