So many want a Colt Python because it is a Colt Python.
Au contraire monsieur banana, I would be a wealthy man!Youd have 0 nickles?
I checked last week and still do not see anything on the Colt site about the Python. I am interested but that is a steep price.
Yes they were. Hand polished, honed and tuned. For all that, you paid, what, an extra $150-$200? Which admittedly wasn't ridiculous, just a lil pricey.Back in the day, they were the slickest shooting, finely crafted, out of the box revolver you could buy. If you liked shooting hand guns you could tell the difference between a Python and any other hand gun on the market, they were a high quality gun and worth the extra few bucks at the time.
Don't know what the new ones will be like but based on recent performance from Colt, I would be somewhat leery.

I dunno. But Ken Hackathon really likes the trigger. I would say that is a glowing endorsement. Rugers in particular have gritty triggers. I have never been a big fan of Ruger handguns in general, robust as they are.Hand quality? Smooth? I thought all revolvers just went bang after a 12 pound trigger was pulled? What makes this better than let’s say a Smith or a Ruger?
I know this guy is a bit of a blowhard but this opinion seems to solid on this topic. The new Pythons dont need to be "hand fitted" because now there are far better ways to make parts with tighter tolerances negating the need to be hand fitted. Ive also heard that the old Pythons had issues with their triggers breaking with heavy use.So it’s the trigger?
And the overall sexiness. It is a very good looking piece, always has been.So it’s the trigger?
Yeah, I agree that when properly executed and with close attention paid to QC modern manufacturing methods eliminate the need for hand fitting. It remains to be seen if Colt's execution and QC is as good as it needs to be to match or even exceed the quality of the originals.I've never seen a gun in a gun shop sell anywhere near what you see as MSRP. I agree, with new CNC machining practices and heat treatments, if they do it right, there probably won't be any need for hand fitting. As for the original, glass smooth!
But then you do have the reverse snobs that will decry anything not to their liking, whether it has any factual basis or not.

They (allegedly) make most of their money from .gov nowadays.
At $1,499.00 they are coming in ballsy thinking they will compete with S&W and Ruger. That is almost twice what you can get a 686 or GP100 for.
