Does anyone have one of the new Pythons? I looked at one today and they seem very nice. Would appreciate any thoughts or comments. The next question is would you buy one?

They are a fantastically good lookin' gun. There have been various issues with them, issues with the hand in particular, and attendant claims that said issues have been resolved. It's normal for any new model to have teething issues upon release and none of the problems seemed to be inherent in the design.
One thing about the Python that I didn't know until recently is that there is only a single point of lockup for the cylinder, that being at the rear. That is a traditional element of the design, was the same on the original models, but seems kind of deficient to me. That said the front lockup on a S&W 686 is only a ball detent interlacing with the tip of the ejector rod so I don't see that as having an major effect on the strength of tge lockup either. Probably isn't actually an issue.

The "new" Pythons only incorporate the style and name of its predecessor, and while they do use the traditional V-Spring opposed to a coil main spring, the lockwork is Mark V (same as King Cobra, Anaconda, Trooper, etc.)
I bought a used (new model) King Cobra that didn't like to return and reset the trigger: disassembled, cleaned, and tweaked the trigger spring and it's been fine since then. I don't know about the Python, but the KC is a little bit smaller than the original, but still larger than the Detective Special.

This thread got me thinking. Why does anyone buy any particular firearm? What is the criteria that goes into the decision?
Looks? Name? Historical value? Resale value? Prestige? Functionality? etc. etc.
I own two .357 Mag. revolvers that I am unbelievably pleased with. I confess that all my firearms are just as much a tool to me as my mechanical and woodworking tools. They will not impress most but they sure function well and are quite accurate.
Both are High Standards produced by Dan Wesson in Monson MA.
So that I do not totally violate the topic of the thread I will say no, I would not buy a new Colt Python. Or an original for that matter.

I personally wouldn’t just because I don’t see a point to one. If it fits what you want in a gun sure buy it. I wouldn’t use it and it would just sit in my safe. Any revolver I would buy would be for concealed carry.

No, because revolvers are obsolete compared to modern semi handguns and are not optimal for CCW or defensive purposes, and plus I have a couple already.

I would say that revolvers are obsolescence but not obsolete as revolvers have a few benefits over a semi auto such as if you have a round that fails to go off you just keep pulling the DA trigger and go to the next round, where as a semi auto has a more complicated/multi step operation of tap rack bang. Revolvers also can shoot the lightest / lowest recoiling rounds and any bullet type without effecting the ability of the revolver to cycle to the next round. Both of these would be an advantage compared to a semi auto. However semi autos offer a greater variety of benefits and are in most situations more ideal of a choice for most people.
to get back on topic I would pass on the new pythons as I don’t feel they offer a higher quality revolver compared to a smith and Wesson or even a Ruger GP100.

I have held one as well as an Anaconda. Aesthetically they are beautiful handguns. Functionally I am sure they are top notch. I am more of a S&W guy so ultimately went with a 686 and them eventually a 629 over the Anaconda.
I am back and forth on a King Cobra now. I am in market for a revolver for certain carry situations. The market for small frame revolvers is a lot more saturated. It is hard to justify the King Cobra since it is the most expensive. The one thing that keeps me going back to it is simply because I do not own a Colt revolver...yet.

I like Colts, both the revolvers and 1911s, but feel like they cost twice as much as they should just because they have a dancing pony stamped on them.
Revolvers don't get pushed out of battery when the struggle gets up close and personal. Keeps track of the casings as well.
I would not buy a Python simply because I'm not looking to add any guns to my stable. I have every likely use case covered.

For the longest time I longed for a Python. I thought they were so cool, even before The Walking Dead made them popular again in the public consciousness. I figured I'd never get one because of the price.
I was perusing a gun store several years ago and came across a six inch S&W 686. I figured that would be the closest I'll ever get to a Python. After getting it home I quickly fell in love. It is my go-to carry gun for my hikes on my family's property. It's big enough that the .357 magnum doesn't destroy your hands like my S&W 649 revolver does and shooting .38s out of it is akin to shooting .22 out of almost any other gun.
If I could get a deal on it I'd probably buy a Python just because it is a sexy gun, and sexy means something in my book. But it would be a safe queen that would rarely ever get carried or shot. For the time being I'm sticking with my S&W.

I own a S&W 686+ and a Ruger GP100. Both are fantastic. I also have some other revolvers. I guess I just have a love for wheel guns. If I can get one for a decent price, I will get one. Right now I own 10 revolvers. Love them all. Thanks for the input.
